Why take the camera off Kerry?

I don't know if anyone else noticed this and I did wait to see if anyone did here before starting a thread.

I noticed that when the Judges came out with the acts behind them they took the camera off Sharon and her lot, especially Kerry when coming out on stage. They scanned the audience instead.

Do they not want to show her or is it somethig silly like making the ramp too steep for her?

I never noticed. Was this something you were looking out for? I think TV has moved on a bit since TOTP banned Robert Wyatt because they thought the sight of someone in a wheelchair would disturb younger viewers.

i noticed that, was everytime, maybe they didnt want to focus on her wheeling around for some reason

I noticed that too. The camera swept away from her when she started coming down the ramp and went back after she was at the bottom.

I thought they were doing that incase she didn't navigate the ramp safely, else why not just show her coming down the ramp like they showed everyone else coming down the stairs.

I didn't notice that either. I must say I'm surprised.

Judging by the way she's been portrayed on the show thus far, I was half expecting her performance to include a cutaway to a montage of starving African children.

One thing I did notice was that ramp seemed to be very steep! I noticed both Sharon and Dionne were taking it steady going down the ramp.

Yes I noticed and was very surprised that they did it. Would like to know their reasoning. and I agree with GWaites the ramp did look pretty steep and sharon and dionne were taking their time.

I noticed it too. The cameras would pan to the audience when Kerry was coming onto the stage. As for the ramp - it is far too steep for the others to come down. Why can't they have a step/block at the side of the ramp so that the others do not have to negotiate the ramp. Producers need a little bit of common sense.

Yep, I noticed that too - was surprised at the time.

IMO the reason could be because she has someone bring her down the ramp. with others in front, even as an expert with her wheelchair..... even though only a small chance........an accident could happen. To run over anyone or even to lightly knock them with the wheelchair would hurt like hell, and that could make someones performance suffer.
So imo it is common sense to make sure that any small chance goes to 0% chance with her being bought down.
Hence no camera on her.

Yes CPA, that totally makes sense. Good point!

You lot seem very observant The only wheelchair movement I took notice of was Kerry confidently wheel herself up to Kate after her performance. The other comment I heard was when Sharon told Kerry to do a 'wheelie' in her wheelchair at having got through for another week!

Well as it was when the acts very first came on the stage I was paying attention! Then the camera suddenly zoomed away which I thought was weird as it had stayed on all the other contestants. I noticed the wheely comment too
Also, I watched it twice as I was a bit tipsy the first time I saw it

I actually wondered where Kerry was when they came on stage at the end, but if you looked she was there. I think the eyeline thing throws you. It's hard for them to keep the camera on them all when Kerry is, by necessity, lower than the others.

Phew...so it wasn't just me that noticed this.

I will be watching to see if they do the same again or if they've changed the ramp this week.

May be they were specifically asked to concentrate as little as possible on the wheel chair by the producers as Kerry said she didn't want the sympathy vote. The camera men were probably finding it difficult to grab an angle by which the chair wasn't in sight

I too thought it was probably because a stage hand or someone was helping Kerry on to the stage.

Maybe it was to hide a Lou and Andy moment?
