All the main card fights ended fairly quick tonight, including BJ Penn winning the Lightweight Title via submission in Round 2, having made Joe Stevenson bleed quite badly. Werdum beat Gonzaga in Round 2 as well.

Thanks for the link. I imagine it would be hidden away on ITV2, like The Contender, but surely it is only a matter of time before MMA makes a significant leap in its profile.

Incidentally, whatever happened to the IFL? I caught one event by accident on a Saturday night/Sunday morning on ITV 3, and thought it was going to be a regular show!

Anyone else up watching UFC Fight Night on Setanta?

mmashare.com is pretty good. Quality of videos vary, but they usually have them up extremely quickly. The forum comments are best ignored, though.

LOL at Tim Sylvia. Fedor once again proves he is the greatest MMA fighter ever! The man is a machine. Only two fights left for him and that is Josh Barnett and Randy Couture. There is no need for him to sign with UFC. I think Affliction will be shown on TWC/Fight Network next week.

this is what Tim Sylvia said few years back

“I think he [Fedor Emelianenko] is being a p*ssy. I think Fedor is very good, but you have to fight the top level competitors all the time to keep that status, and he is just not doing that.”

Anyone watching the PPV on Saturday?

I'm looking forward to Lesnar vs Herring and Sy Pierre vs Frankilin.

It may be the best card they've had for a while.

I meant to say GSP vs Fitch., Not Franklin.

Also, Huerta vs Florian is on the card, that should be decent.

Fedor is just supreme. Sylvia, whilst having improved a huge amount in the last year or two, has no right being in the same ring as Fedor. Couture would be a better match and i understand he might come out of retirement to fight Fedor. I still think Fedor will win fairly easily however.

I'm not sure what happened to Arlovski. It looks like he lost a lot of confidence around about his second Sylvia fight. He looked awesome when he began in ufc. Great stand-up with a deadly knock-out punch and awesome ground skills. Now he's nothing. I'm hoping he gets it together again as i think he could also challenge Fedor but it's likely Fedor will have retired before Arlovski is ready for him. He's more a poodle at the moment than a pit-bull

Anyone fancy Lesnars chances against Herring?

I think they haven't built up Lesnar as well as they could have. They should probably have given him a couple of fights before Mir in the first place.

Lesnar will really draw some new fans in , if given the chance. He's an immense athlete too and could do really well in the future.

I hope he beats Herring and moves on, it would be nice to see some new blood in the heavyweight division at least.

Interesting article on Yahoo about Lesner here: http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/050820...-must-win.html

I don't really agree that it's must win, but he does need to look good. The UFC have already shown what they'll do if a big new fighter does not deliver -- see Cro Cop. If this fight ends with the crowd booing Lesnar, I doubt we'll see him again.

(And, to answer your question, no. Lesnar has a good chance, even if he hasn't improved his submission defence / ground game. But Herring is very dangerous -- a much tougher challenge than Mir.)

As someone mentioned, the Sylvia fights destroyed his confidence. Sylvia showed the world that Arlovski has a bit of a glass jaw, and now he's not nearly as agressive, too worried about being caught out again.

He looked very good in that recent fight, though (Dream?)

crowd booing Lesnar
No chance of that. It's in Minnesota. ( Brock is one of their favourite sons, as its his home city).

I still think he'll beat Herring, the thing is, he's a monster. His ground skills are what make him the competitor he is, bear in mind he held sucessive NCAA wrestling titles. Plus, he showed against Mir that he can ground & pound.

I kinow Heath is tough, but if Lesnar gets comfortable, I can see him taking Heath down and tko'ing him.

On side note, I'm just watching the countdown to UFC87 on Setanta, they showed a Heurta highlight reel, that was awesome.

I was listening to a radio show from Florida this morning, they called Brock, the " Vanilla Gorrilla"

I'm not sure that i agree that Herring is a tougher challenge than Mir but then i haven't seen much of herring to be honest. I know he's been in against a who's who of world class mma heavyweights but as far as i know he lost against all of them. Notable exceptin of Kongo but i actually thought Kongo looked like the better fighter in tha match even though he ended up losing. For certain Kongo won the ground game.

There's no denying that accident took alot out of Mir but his ground skills are still legendary and i strongly believe he is still on the road to full recovery. At least Lesnar doesn't have to worry about that lethal Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu although i understand Herring is a decent wrester. I think i might go with Lesnar against Herring.

Would love to see Lesnar against Ian Freeman or Justin Eilers

I didn't really see too much of a difference to the Mir fight to be honest the only difference was the lack of world class Jui-Jitsu underneath him. BUT if Brock can get some decent Jui-Jitsu skills in his skill-set he would be awesome.

Of interest, it's funny how skinny Lesnar's legs are. Maybe another weakness of his would be a big world class kick-boxer. I think a couple of the kinda leg kicks that someone like Cro-cop could deliver and Brock wouldn't want to know.
