You do make some good points, and have good opinions, but i still think she went with the intention of proving herself as a stand up fighter, her training appears to have moved more into striking, commentators have said that she didnt like to be seen as having just one style, and i think her ego has made her try and be something she isnt, plus i think she is surrounded by yes men, Edmond Tarverdyan's advice was embarrassing at the end of round one and one that sounded like he either didnt want to tell her the truth or he was clueless and didnt see what was happening, either way i think she needs to get rid .

Yep, thats an interesting read, i can see it now and where it went wrong for Rousey, i think the only way back for her now is to change training camps, ditch the idiots who either havent got a clue or are pandering to her ego, this loss will either be a good thing in that she changes everything and learns new techniques, or keep the same camp and come back learning nothing new. I still think she thought her boxing was better than it was, and thought she could blitz Holm with her hands, even just to get close for the clinch, and that either comes from her ego and no one telling her the truth, or the trainers being inept. One clip that sums up the whole mess was went she went in, Holm slipped to the side and Rousey fell on one knee and span round, that summed up the whole Bull and Matador thing. |

I've finally managed to catch up with the full fight and read back the last couple of pages of this thread. It's an interesting debate, but it does seem as if people here and especially on other blogs, wanted to see Ronda pulled down a peg so much they are not actually judging her fairly.
I agree that she looked ripped at the weigh-in and bloated in the ring but otherwise I'm mostly on-board with Rhythm Stick's analysis. Would also like to add a couple of my own observations. Even with the hindsight mistakes she made, I think Rousey would have won against any other MMA woman. Very, very few judges saw that result coming. Holm simply fought an exceptional fight. Unlike Rousey's recent opponents she didn't panic, mostly stuck to her game plan and kept extreme discipline even when things went wrong. Rousey clocked Holm more than a few times and really hurt her at least once and what does Holm do? Clinch Rousey and take her down. That was highly impressive. The re-match could be the biggest draw in MMA history now. I would actually take Rousey to win - if she learns from the defeat like a truly great fighter would. |

After the first round, her trainer told her she was "perfect"
![]() Her Mother doesnt like him at all, so its going to be interesting to see how Rousey goes forward. Its a week later and i'm still shocked at how badly it went wrong for Rousey. |

I remember him from TUF when Rousey was team captain against Miesha Tate , Rousey was acting like a spoilt bitch, but all the fuel seemed to come from Edmond Tarverdyan he seemed to wind her up and let her get out of control, i think he is bad for her tbh.

I think Dana might bring in a higher weight division for women in the next year or so as there is a lot of talk about Cyborg not getting down to 135, they are all thinking now,, "oh so thats how you beat Rousey"

Anybody watch the Jorgensen fight? Some atrociously bad refereeing and to be frank underscores the difference between boxing and mma corner outlooks.

Filmed predictions of Rousey getting beat before the fight have suddenly sprung up all over the net. But I thought this one was really interesting:

I've never watched UFC so forgive my possible ignorance.. but it looks to me like Ronda's right foot slipped on the canvas and the actual KO kick occurs as she's getting back up from the slip/loss of balance with her back turned to her opponent. Is that fair game in UFC? I'm guessing it is. But I suppose what I'm saying is it looks like a bit of a cheap shot rather than a well executed KO.

I have to say I really can't stand McGregor and I am Irish, his over confident cockyness really sickens me and hope he get brought down to earth with a crash very shortly similar to Rhonda.

WOW,, like Mcgregor or not, that was a stunning knockout over the pound for pound best fighter in the world. Ii thought a couple of weeks ago Mcgregor had won the battle of the mind, but at the weigh in Aldo seemed calm and ok with it, so i was unsure who would win, but before the bell Aldo looked nervous again, but in no way did i think Mcgregor would knock him out in 13 seconds.
I enjoyed the Rockhold v Weidmann fight, Weidmann looked really good in the 1st round, but the kicks from Rockhold knackered him out i think. I still hate the fact Sky Sports doesnt even mention the UFC, its a legitimate sport and i'm disgusted at the way Sky Sports ignores it ![]() ![]() ![]() It seems if Sky doesnt have the rights to a sport then they completely ignore it as if it doesnt exist. Sky Sports news should be just that,, news about all sports, instead of repeating the same news every 15 minutes |

Weidman and Rockhold both looked terrible health wise, not sure how much weight they cut but surely they should bring in some guidelines for it.
Missing out on a lot of great fights if fighters were nearer their natural weight and in tip top condition methinks. As for the main event, wow, that was just awesome. |
