I don't remember anybody saying there was no way she would ever join the UFC (certainly not when she was already under contract). It was you claiming they'd offer her 10 million and do Cyborg/Holm.

She's going to run through Smith either way. Smith used to fight at 125, I'd expect her to get steamrolled against a much larger Cyborg. Very possible that this is a tune up fight to get her name out there even more and then do a bigger fight towards the end of the year. The craziness of Rousey losing the title and then Holm losing the title has shook things up a bit.

In other news, more stuff coming out about Jon Jones with him being involved in drag racing and all sorts, which to nobodies surprise he denies.

They did. They said Cyborg was fighting at 145 now so it was never going to happen. For the right money it is always going to happen.

McGregor/Diaz II confirmed as the main at UFC 200, it will be at 170 again.

What ever you think of McGregor he does not duck any fight. He could of moved back down and took a fight he could of won, yet he wants to prove he can beat Diaz at this weight. Apparently his coach and Dana White tried to talk Conor in making the fight at 155 yet Conor only wanted it at 170.

Should be a fun build up at least

Probably decided to fight again at 170 because it would have been highly embarrassing and an end to his UFC career if he fought Diaz at 155 and lost.

Yeah very good point actually. At least this way if he losses he can state that as a reason and step back down and defend his belt.

In a way he should have to defend his belt at UFC 200 as Aldo/Edgar as fighting for the interim belt. If Conor beats Diaz though there would be a good chance they could go yet again in a 3rd rubber match. So when does he actually defend his belt?

I hate the interim belts as well more so when the actual champion is healthy and fighting on the same bloody card.

He seems to be able to call the shots for now as he's such big box office but that won't last long if he loses to Diaz again.

then hopefully Frankie Edgar then also submits him and he then gets cut from the UFC roster altogether

McGregor dominating MMA news right now after he tweeted claiming he's retiring. Helwani among others running with it. Could be legit or could be an absolute wind up, never know with McGregor. Sure knows how to get people talking either way.

Well he has followed a lot of people on twitter from WWE, so who knows what is happening??

That would be quite unbelievable for him to just retire like that, especially after that defeat, I could just about understand it, if he was doing something similar to Mayweather, but this is just crazy!

It's a strange one. McGregor is a straight talker and is not one for pulling cheap publicity stunts so if he says he is retiring, maybe we have to believe him. As you say though, it's odd that he would choose to go out on a defeat.

Wrestling Observer said he's worth $40 million plus to UFC 200, in terms of live gate/ppv/merch, assuming it did at least 1.6-1.7 million buys in North America.

Just out of interest, how would money in the WWE compare to UFC? Would a WWE champion be on an even bigger salary than a top UFC fighter?

A top WWE wrestler gets about $2-$3 mil guarantee. Bonus merchandise sales and PPV revenue would top that up quite bit.

Considering the work I would say its worse for the WWE wrestler. They work like 300 days a year.


Tough ask. I find the majority of MMA fighters that have tried pro-wrestling seem to struggle as first and foremost they try and be too 'fake'. The strikes look stupid as they end up trying to pull them rather than basically just hitting hard with less force than usual.

The Japanese guys that do pro-wrestling and MMA tend to fair better as in Japan you can work a strong physical style and use all the submissions in pro-wrestling and its not an issue.

Josh Barnett was a good example of a western MMA fighter who got pro-wrestling. He knew what he was doing as he didn't try and be too different to Josh Barnett the MMA fighter.

Ken Shamrock managed the crossover, and then of course there is Brock, who could just about do anything, such a beast that he is!

Shamrock was a pro-wrestler before his UFC career. He started wrestling in Japan long before he went WWE.

So Conor has put put a statement, basically saying that he is no longer retired, and that he was just fed up with the promotional side of things, and that he wants to fight at UFC 200.

Called their bluff and it did not work lol.

Seems this has backfired for Conor as reports as saying UFC won't back down and will go ahead with cancelling the fight at UFC 200 and Conor will miss out on around £10 million.

Apparently they not only offered to fly him out for free on a private jet but they would move every single gym equipment from Iceland and have it set up exactly as it was in Iceland so he could train..yet he still refused.

Jon Jones was rusty as hell, looked a lot more muscular though. Bet Cormier wished he hadn't broke his foot now, might be undisputed Champion now.

Bellator was much better, if you haven't watched it I would highly recommend it, seriously great fights.

So Conor might be back at 200 after all, what a shambolic mess this is, and has been.

This has done nothing but show how much UFC is turning into boxing with is politics and in fighting.
