I think it more resembles wrestling than boxing. I think it was all a 'work' and the UFC and McGregor played the fans brilliantly.

Or maybe very clever marketing from both Conor and UFC? Maybe after he lost against Nate and the fact not everyone was sold on the rematch they needed a way to get people invested in Conor again.

By doing this over the last week or so it has gained worldwide media attention from all news outlets and if the fight does go ahead it will more than likely outsell his previous fights in terms of PPV money.

Would not surprise me if both Dana White and Conor are sitting back laughing as the money rolls in for UFC 200.

No doubt they are.

I don't think the UFC have officially confirmed whether Conor is back at UFC 200 have they?

No. Apparently they know nothing about McGregors decision to fight and Diaz has gone on holiday and is not training for a fight.

Well if Dana White does actually go ahead with UFC 200 and not have the Conor/Diaz fight then he is a bigger fool than I thought already.

After all that has happened over the last 2 weeks if would be a even bigger fight than the first and make the UFC lots of money.

UFC 200 main event will now be Jones vs Cormier. Diaz refused to take on another fighter.

Looking like he's made the right move to me. He can't seem to win on this one with some. Puts the fight on? People claim he's bowing to Conor's every need. Doesn't put the fight on? Is apparently stupid for not making loads of money. You and Misawa even criticised him thinking this was the plan all along (not everything is a planned work or fix guys).

To me he's made the right decision in standing firm. McGregor was in the wrong in this case and I'm surprised so many people came out and defended his statement. Make no mistake about it either, when he does fight (Dana said last night it'l likely be anywhere between 201, 202 or 203) it's going to still make big money.

I will hold my hands up and admit I got it wrong with it all being a plan but it honestly looked and was playing out that way. Some reports are stating it was more Lorenzo Fertitta than White who was dead against Conor fighting at UFC.

The new main event at 200 looks great though and is for a belt which a main event should be. They really should of had Conor vs Aldo instead as the main event, yes he got a very quick KO last time out but would be a much closer fight next time round

Rousey is supposedly due to make a comeback against Tate at UFC 205 at a "historic" event in NYC.

Been all but confirmed for a while now that she'd return towards the end of the year, MSG show makes sense as Ronda is comfortably one of the best draws in MMA. Getting a title shot whether it's Tate or Nunes holding the belt (personally expect Tate to beat Nunes).

The build if it's against Tate will be brilliant. Zingano/Pena is worth keeping an eye on at 200, flying under the radar but a win for either will put them in the mix.

Does anyone know what is happening with the TV rights for UFC. I was under the impression that the BT contract was due to expire? Likely of BT retaining?

Would be surprised if they didn't. It's probably not that expensive. Sky don't want it so there isn't much competition for the rights.

Am I right in saying this is the first time a Brit has got a title shot in the UFC?

Overeem has never fought for the UFC Heavyweight title and nobody is convincing me he's British either.

Dan Hardy did however have a shot at the Welterweight title against GSP.

UFC ‘entering the endgame’ in UK TV deal negotiations This was posted on 10th May.

Quote:
“THE UFC should be set to announce details of their next UK TV deal within the next month, according to UFC vice president and general manager for Europe, Middle East and Africa James Elliott.

Chatting to SunSport in Rotterdam, Elliott explained that the negotiations between the UFC and the various interested broadcasters are approaching a conclusion.

“We’re getting closer. We’re going to have to because we’re getting towards the end of our contract!

“We’re talking to the guys. We have a lot of interested parties who are involved in it.”

And Elliott praised current rights holders BT Sport for their support of the UFC over the course of their three-year broadcast partnership together.

“Obviously BT Sport have been great partners of ours,” he said.

“We’re delighted in what they’ve done to help support us.

“We’re a young business, they’re a young business. We’re kind of figuring it out together. They’ve been very supportive of us, so we’ll see what’s going to happen."

And Elliott revealed the announcement of the UFC’s new broadcast deal could be imminent, with negotiations beginning to reach their conclusions.

“I think we’re entering the endgame of it all and I think everyone’s keen to get it locked up as soon as we can,” he said.

“We’ll have some news on that in the next three to four weeks, I would say.”

The UFC’s current broadcast deal - a three-year partnership with BT Sport - finishes on July 31 this year.”

I'd like to see Bisping win tonight but only because he is British , i cant stand the bloke tbh , his trash talking (In a new transatlantic accent) is just boring , i just think it would be fantastic if we get a British champion, it might make the sport a bit more known here, although even if he does win i very much doubt Sky Sports news will announce it , the UFC doesnt exist in their world.
