Well here's my own two cents on the card for anyone who cares:
Based on the star power and hype surrounding the card I have to admit I found the show somewhat underwhelming, but there was about the show which I did like and don't consider it to be the bust that a lot of people online have done. The prelims in particular were very good and I share the sentiment about the Hendicks fight being match of the night.
I think one of the biggest flaws with the show as a viewer stemmed in my opinion from the match order. Having a five round Aldo fight second slowed the whole show down in my opinion, personally I would have had it as the Co-Main with Lesnar vs Hunt leading, although with the reported financial demands of Brock I understand why Dana didn't go with this.
It was good to see Cain back to his best, but it's fairly safe to say Travis was not the strongest threat possible. Once again I see him as evidence of Edmond's ability to completely ruin potentially strong fighters with his methods, Ronda's success has been in spite of him rather then because of him.
I've never been a big Aldo fan by any means, but I have to say I was very impressed with him during the Edgar fight. He was very shaky to start off with due to what happened with Conor, but his confidence grew throughout and by the end the win was commanding. I am disappointed though since I feel Edgar vs McGregor would have been a more entertaining fight.
I had expected some sort of sympathy towards Cormier after what happened with Jones, but that was completely eliminated the moment he got that first takedown. Honestly that fight STUNK, 15 minutes of lying on the ground and with Cormier making no attempt to inject some energy into the fight. Considering I was one of many who thought Anderson was going to be fed to the wolves I think him going the distance was one of the best moments of the night, and his humility and willing to take such a short notice fight just confirms why so many consider him the greatest.
Brock vs Mark underwhelmed slightly, but only in that people expected it to be a first round stoppage. The actual fight itself was exactly what I expected it to be, a straight up boxer vs wrestler battle where they who drew first blood would come out on top, and that's how it turned out. It still amazes me how fast Brock is for a heavyweight, and whilst I can't see him challenging for a title because of the WWE contract I don't think this is his last UFC fight.
I personally wouldn't have put Tate vs Nunes as the main event at the start of the show, but in retrospect it worked out well, after three decisions the show needed a talking point and it got one. I knew going into the fight that Amanda's best chance of winning was to take Miesha out in the first round, but I never at any point expected her to be just as commanding as what she was. I know a lot of people like to criticise Ronda's performance against Holly in 193, but honestly I think Miesha's was even worse; she had zero significant strikes, got dominated on the ground and standing up and for someone who prides themselves on their resilience seemed to give up the moment Nunes rocked her the first time.
As for Amanda's first challenge it's all going to depend on when and if Ronda comes back. If Ronda is back for MSG then Dana makes that the main event no question. If it's later then that then I can see either Holly or Pena at 203 depending on if Holly beats Shevchenko.
On the whole I would say a 6 out of 10, better then 197 but a long way behind 199.
