ever since the brutal KO from Mirko Cro Cop, Wanderli Silva has been a shot fighter. The guy should retire. He is finished!
His fight with Liddell was pretty awesome for a shot fighter..

Rampage was lethal against him though. That torque punch that KO'd him was brutal.

Very impressed with Mir. Not so impressed with Evans OR Griffin!

Liddell was also shot. That was just 2 guys going at it. Silva hasnt been the same since he got brutally KO'ed v Mirko as Kobashi said. Even before that fight he was sliding. He was fighting Heavyweights in Japan. The fight v Mark Hunt he took blows. He used to train with HW and ask them to hit him to see how quick he could recover. There is only so much the body can take and his shot.

Noguiera is another shot fighter. He fought Bob Sapp in a crazy match in 2002. Its 7 years since then and his body has taken so much punishment.

2 out of 3's not bad! Great KOs by Evans & Jackson.

Big nog looked out of shape and apparently came in a fair bit heavier than he normally does. Maybe all the punishment he's taken is catching up with him.

Mir looked excellent but I think Brock will blow him away in their next fight.
I think Brock will lose. Brock may well come out fast but Mir will hook him like in the 1st fight.

As soon as I saw Noguiera I thought WTF. He was heavy and so slow its unreal.

We'll see.

Whatever the outcome Mir will have to take a hell of a lot of punishment if he wants that heel hook.

Apart from seeing how shogun does in the next event I can't be @rsed with UFC 93.

Can't wait for 94 though, 2 out of the top5 p4p fighters in mma facing each other... Happy days!

Sakuraba's entrances are the best in MMA. Always entertaining..

UFC 93 - Saturday 17th January 2009

Rich "Ace" Franklin vs Dan "Hollywood" Henderson

Mark "The Hammer" Coleman vs Mauricio "Shogun" Rua

Alan "The Talent" Belcher vs Denis Kang

Tomasz Drwal vs Ivan Serati

Chris "Lights Out" Lytle vs Marcus "The Irish Hand Grenade" Davis

John Hathaway vs Tom Egan

Nate Mohr vs Dennis Siver

Jeremy Horn vs Rousimar Palhares

Eric "Ravishing Red" Schafer vs Antonio Mendes

Martin "Hitman" Kampmann vs Alexandre Barros

Not the most star-studded line-up but there's the potential for some good bouts.

I'm hoping Dan will KO Rich, and Rua will finish Coleman off forever. I just hope Coleman doesn't get his kids in the ring afterwards. (One of the most embarrassing things I've ever seen in MMA.)

This is a week today, not tonight. Don't panic!

Very interesting mate. Were you at that event or did someone else take the photos?
I know a guy who works in the boxing business and he took them.

Over the years, being on the net it's suprising who you get to speak to.

The internet is a small world for us fight fans.

Am I right in thinking this is the first time that Coleman has fought at 205?

The winner of the Franklin v Henderson is going to be Bisping's next opponent (and opposing coach on the next season of TUF) in a number 1 contender match for the Middleweight title. This doesn't make much sense to me. Franklin's only just moved up to 205 and has already said that he doesn't see the point in fighting Silva for a 3rd time. Any way, what do you think of Bisping's chances against either of these guys?

Franklin has fought half his career at 205lbs, notibly in his loss to Lyoto Machida and his win against Ken Shamrock.

I think Henderson vs Franklin has the ingredients to be a very entertaining fight. Two hard working scrappers, both with big KO power and great ground games. Cant wait.

Hendo and Franklin are both past their best now imo. Franklin seems to be mentally broken after the 2 whoopings he took from Anderson Silva and Hendo has been largely disappointing since moving to the UFC from pride. I'd say this is probably the weakest card that the UFC has put on in the UK so far. Hopefully shogun is fully recovered from his leg injury otherwise there's not going to be much to see here at all.

Good show so far, and they've confirmed Jackson/Jardine for UFC 96 in March. They've also confirmed Michael Bisping as a future Ultimate Fighter coach.

Decided to watch this, don't really know much about MMA. This Coleman bloke seems to be fighting in slow motion.

edit: both of them do

Henderson beats Franklin, he'll coach opposite Bisping, and will then fight him to earn the shot at Silva.

A bit of a dull UFC. I got the thousand yard stare through most of the bouts.

As funny as it would have been to see Lytle KO Davis, I can't help but feel happy for Marcus on what has to be his most exciting night ever. It'll be hard to top that event for him.

Coleman/Rua was as expected, embarrassing, and for a change it wasn't all Coleman's fault. Rua didn't take it seriously, showed no accuracy, gassed by Rd 2 and was lucky to win. Coleman was also as expected. A dried out ex-roidhead with terrible conditioning, complete lack of gameplan and still doing his pathetic routine of overhand right followed by a takedown attempt. Whoever let him back in the UFC needs sacking.

I'm also really bored of Jeremy Horn the journeyman, I don't care if he's had 500 fights, he should try winning one.

I can't remember any more fights.

Bring on GSP.

They cannot book Coleman again. He was a total wreck, did you hear his interview after the fight. Couldnt even get his words out properly.

Shogun looks pretty shot these days. That was a horrible win for him.

The judge who scored the franklin vs henderson fight 30-27 in favour of franklin needs to be sacked.

I'm glad Hendo got the coaching gig on the next TUF. Didn't sound like Franklin wanted to do it.

Shogun looked awful, hard to believe he was considered the best at 205 not so long ago. He's due to fight Liddell in April, could be a quick night's work for Chuck if Rua doesn't improve.

UFC 94 card confirmed.

Main event:

UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre vs. UFC Lightweight Champion B.J. Penn in a 170-pound title bout

Main card (Televised):

205 lbs.: Lyoto Machida (13-0) vs. Thiago Silva (13-0)
205 lbs.: Stephan Bonnar (11-4) vs. Jon Jones (6-0)
155 lbs.: Nate Diaz (10-2) vs. Clay Guida (24-9)
170 lbs.: Karo Parisyan (18-5) vs. Dong Hyun “Stun Gun” Kim (11-0-1)
Any predictions then?

I'm going for GSP by decision, Machida, Bonnar, Diaz and Parisyan. Looking forward to it now.

I'm kiss of death for predictions.

I should write down who I think I'll win then bet on the opposite.

I've a lot of time for Penn but he's getting sillier with all this 'death' stuff. He is a natural talent, and doesn't need to hype his fights with rubbish like he's coming out with. GSP is a worrier, if he got blood lust along with his talent he would rule for years. I'd agree with a points decision for Georges but I'd love him to make BJ tap.

Two big events though before 94.

We've got Affliction 2 on Saturday Jan 24th. Fedor vs Arlovski and we have WEC 38 on the Sunday 25th with Faber vs Pulver II.

Some good MMA in the next fortnight.
