Did anyone see the 1st episode of TUF then? I thought most of the British fighters looked pretty handy apart from one or two.

These are the fellas that got through for TEAM UK:

LIGHTWEIGHTS:

Andre Winner(9-2-1)
Jeff Lawson(12-2)
Martin Stapleton(5-1)
Ross Pearson(8-4)

WELTERWEIGHTS:

Dave Falkner(2-1)
Dean Amasinger(4-1)
James Wilks(5-2)
Nick Osipczak(3-0)

I think if any of the welterweights get injured then they'll fly Che Mills out. They all seemed to be a bit shocked that he went out.

Looking at the preview for next week it looks like a couple of the US guys came unprepared and had to cut a lot of weight.

Have you seen the famous Heath Herring clip from when he was fighting in Japan before he joined the UFC?

UFC 97 tomorrow night:

Main event:

UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva (23-4) vs. Thales Leites (14-1)

Main card (Televised):

205 lbs.: Chuck Liddell (21-6) vs. Mauricio Rua (17-3)
205 lbs.: Brian Stann (6-1) vs. Krzysztof Soszynski (16-8-1)
265 lbs.: Cheick Kongo (13-4-1) vs. Antoni Hardonk (8–4)
205 lbs.: Luis Cane (9-1) vs. Steve Cantwell (7-1)

Who do you fancy? I've got a cheeky double on Silva and Chuck (hopeing that shogun hasn't got into too much shape since the coleman fight) but I think the rest of them will be pretty tough to call.

Wow, Liddel's jaw is officially glass now.

It's a shame because if he'd have got out the 1st round then Rua would have probably gassed.

How did Leites end up getting a title shot?? He was just completely outclassed. Silva looked like he was holding back all night though.

its all about the yellow cards pride used in there events. Yeah people hate the fact pride would deduct wages from fighters who got yellow cards but they were good in that they stopped fighters not doing anything.

Man if I was Anderson Silva I would of shooted on the crowd after they booed him during the interview. He could of got killer heat!!

Looks like GSP is the new poster boy/cash cow of the UFC.

Sad to see Chuck go out like that.

Chuck was finished a while ago. Shogun winning was the best for the promotion. If Jackson beats Evans and Shogun can win 1 more fight you could actually build a shogun v Jackson fight as Shogun killed Quinton in Pride.

Chuck doesnt have the greatest punch resistance does he. Not sure if my memory is failing me but seems to do down from 1 punch.

Dana White looked like a real idiot after the Anderson Silva fight. Last week he actually had the audacity to question how good Fedor is and how he couldnt be #1 p4p as fights nobodies. He said Fedor was not in the same league as Anderson and then Silva is then in a fight which the crowd booed and Dana even apologised for it aftwerwards.

Don't forget Machida's fighting Evans 1st.

You're right though, Chuck has lost 4 of his last 5 fights. The LHW division is probably the most stacked in the UFC and Chuck's probably slipped out the top 10 now. I can't see him stepping down in opponent to fight the likes of Hammil so he'll probably just retire. In fact it sounds like Dana may have retired him already.

The list of fighters in the middleweight division that Silva hasn't beaten is pretty slim.

As for Silva holding back, well, he is a counter-striker. But he's a counter-striker whose opponents are too afraid to attack. Hence, stalemate. Especially when Leites, who has a very good ground game, flops to the floor whenever Silva gets close.

White just needs to pick someone who will come forward all night long -- the fans will be happy then, however it turns out. Or convince Silva to step up to heavyweight again.

I havent posted for a long while but feel the need to regarding a few things.

The reason that Dana doesnt want Chuck to fight in the UFC again is due to the fact that he has Chuck contracted for 1 more fight, if he gives Chuck that fight then Chuck would be free to fight elsewhere after that fight and Dana would never want that to happen. The only way that he can stop it happening is by giving Chuck a new, longer contract which isnt going to happen or to keep him hanging with that final fight that he is under contract for.

Dana will induct Chuck into the Hall of Fame at UFC 100 in Vegas to keep him sweet and keep him in the UFC with some sort of spin off job role. Dana isnt stupid and knows that other promotions would be queuing up for Chuck.

As for Chuck having a glass jaw!! Please!!!! He hasnt been defeated by anybody of a low calibre, and definatly hasnt been knocked out by anybody of a low calibre.
Look at the fights that he has been beaten in -
Rampage, that was always going to be a tough fight for him and it just wasnt Chucks night.
Jardine, One of the most over rated UFC fighters in my opinion, and a split decision win which was a close run thing.
Rashad - who did pretty much nothing and was getting beaten in the fight until he landed the smashing punch that sparked Liddell out, I cant have seen anyone taking that punch and standing up to it.
And finally Shogun who is no push over!!

During this time Chuck defeated Silva - and not many people have managed to defeat the axe murderer so all in all yes he has been beaten way too many times in his last few outings but to some great fighters and some of them could have easily gone the other way.

I agree that its time for Chuck to step away from the octogan but there is no way he has a glass jaw now and cant fight!!

And as for Anderson Silva, he needs to be put in the octogan with someone that he respects and someone that he knows is going to make a fight of it.

Silva is stepping into the octogan knowing that he can play around for as long as he wants, kind of like a cat playing with a mouse scenario. He doesnt want to engage in a fight, he would rather skip around and feel the fighter out for a few rounds. He knows that he wont be getting knocked out and therefore he doesnt bring out his best.

Throw him in with a fighter that he isnt so sure about and you will see the best come out of him, e.g. when he fought Rich Franklin he was explosive and straight down to business. We need that Silva back as currently he is disappointing and he has so much more to give and entertain us with.

Mate, Chuck has lost 4 of his last 5 fights, 3 of those losses by TKO. Doesn't really matter what calibre of opponent he was fighting.

I've heard a rumour that Anderson's next fight will be at UFC101 at 205lbs vs Forrest Griffin.

Should be a good fight!

I think White has already said that he wants to put Silva in with someone who will go for it.

Otherwise, if Silva continues to be cautious, it might be an idea of moving Silva up a weight division and have Silva drop the belt. This would be a last resort though.
