Just read that Kimbo Slice has signed up for UF season 10, filming has already started and due to air in spetember, thats a money earning signing for dana.

Kimbo is maybe lacking mma skills but has pure power on his side. maybe has learnt from his previous fight in the UFC.

what do you guys think........

its maybe old news but its the first I have read of it, plus I have been on holiday for 3 weeks....

Yeah quite funny how Dana has always said Kimbo is a waste of time and would get smashed in the octogan only to sign him after a few fights in a rival organisation but hey!!!

Im more excited about seeing Rampage as a coach to be honest. I think its common knowledge that Rampage doesnt like to train himself so I wonder if this is going to come across to his fighters

White has always questioned Kimbo's ability and whether he has earned the right to be a big MMA star. After all, who has he fought?

However, White never said he couldn't fight in the UFC, but that he would have to prove himself worthy by, for example, going through TUF. He even said he would put on a Heavyweight season of TUF if Kimbo was interested. Kimbo, to his credit, is willing to take that risk -- perhaps he felt he had to after his big loss.

Anyway, it's going to be fun. Even though I'm sure they'll make us wait a few episodes to see Kimbo fight.

There's a rumour going round that
Spoiler
Kimbo's 1st fight ends in a 1st round stoppage loss (not sure if it's a sub or KO).

Not sure if it's true or not but the MMA forums & blogs do seem to get the news 1st 90% of the time.

In the interview that I am talking about White was asked about signing up Kimbo and he said that there was no chance as Kimbo was a back yard fighter with no skill and no chance of lasting in any official UFC fight. He said that he was just a phase that people were going through and he wasnt interested in it all. I will find the YouTube link now and get back to you.

So it looks like we will get an announcement on the home of UFC in the UK next week, possibly Monday with 6 channels wanting it and 2 offers looking especially good!

And here is one that he says Kimbo sucks, yet he signs him for TUF 10?? And you are trying to tell me its because Dana thinks Kimbo has skills and not for the pure hype and rating values?!?!?!

Getting Kimbo in is just a publicity stunt to boost the ratings. I notice there a a couple of very experienced fighters in there too, maybe as an insurance policy to make sure Kimbo doesn't win.

UK TV Deal

So Davies reckons that longterm UFC will be shown on either ESPN or Channel 5 but UFC 100 will be on V1 or bravo.

It's a similar message today from Phil Lowe on iFight365...

Tuesday July 7, 2009 BY Phil Lowe

In a quick update on UFC programming in the UK, iFight365.com understands that an announcement is to be made at some point in the next 48 hours regarding UFC 100 this Saturday night and it could come as soon as later today.

As we have previously reported, several broadcasters have shown an interest in taking over the UFC’s UK television rights, including ESPN, Sky Sports and Bravo, while terrestrial broadcaster Five have also showed some interest.

Where and when UFC 100 will air in the UK is by far the single question we’ve been asked the most over the past few days. Although it is unconfirmed at time of writing, if I had to bet on who gets the rights long-term, my money would be on ESPN, who on Tuesday ESPN announced it will launch a new UK sports channel, called ESPN, on August 3.

The channel will show the 46 live Barclays Premier League football games for which it bought the rights that Setanta Sports lost last month before it went into administration, as well as airing some of the US sports which it owns rights to.

ESPN has reached an initial deal to have the channel shown on Sky at a cost of £9 per month (£12 per month if you don’t subscribe to Sky Sports), but is currently in talks with all UK pay-TV platforms about carrying the service.

An ESPN HD channel will launch on the same date at no additional cost.

UFC 100 will definitely air in the UK and as we speculated last week, even if Bravo miss out on television rights in the long-term, they may still broadcast UFC 100 to give another broadcaster (such as ESPN) time to get things together to provide UFC programming from August onwards.

If ESPN, for example, win the rights, they may not be in the position to stage a live broadcast right away. But we know from their recent purchase of Premier League football rights that they will be broadcasting live from next month when the new season starts, and UFC 101 could be shown live should they win the UFC deal.

But should Bravo be airing UFC 100, I would be surprised if the PPV airs live and suspect it would almost certainly be broadcast on a tape-delay basis.

As previously noted, Bravo is one of several channels owned by Virgin Media and currently up for sale. BSkyB, the parent company of Sky Sports (who we believe have shown interest in picking up the UFC rights - partly due to the HD content they could broadcast) are interested in purchasing the group of channels and have lodged a bid believed to be around £160million. Should that deal go through, it would speed up Bravo’s move to High Definition, with a Bravo HD giving UK fans the chance to see UFC (and TNA) shows in HD.

Virgin 1 - another channel owned by Virgin Media and also up for sale - could also be in the running for the UFC rights and could be an alternative to Bravo to air UFC 100 this weekend.

As soon as an announcement is made or we have further updates, we’ll post them here at iFight365.com, plus regardless of where UFC 100 airs this weekend, we’ll have live coverage here on the website as well.

So Virgin Media customers are out in the cold?

I'd rather not watch some poor streaming internet feed...

Hardly the best way to watch the biggest ever UFC event.

Will channel 433 open up for me? I only subscribe to two sky mixes - variety and kids.

Dont understand why UFC are doing it like this. Only thing I can think of is they were not happy with the price a network were willing to pay.

Amen, brother.

I've just been on to Virgin Media. Apparently the Sky Sports channels cost £18.00 pm and the minimum contract length is 1 month.

Can anyone tell me with any authority whether subscibing to the Sky Sports channels would give me access to Sky Channel 433? Virgin CS seemed baffled by this question.

So many people, soooo pissed off.

It might be broadcast in the clear - but I imagine if you are with Virgin they might block the channels.

You might get lucky - can you get BBC and other channels that are in the clear on Virgin?

Virginmedia are tweeting that VM customers can watch it online so that would be no broadcast then for us

This really is unbelievable. Do they seriously expect people to stay up til 6am to watch some crappy internet feed?

Whose fault is this; Virgin for under-bidding or The UFC for not understanding that they were about to screw the very fans who have made its franchise such a success?

Is it too late for something to be worked out... surely Virgin could also broadcast on a spare channel?
