I'm thinking of watching a few UFC fights. I know that UFC 100 was broadcast free-to-air on Sky over the weekend, but can someone fill me in on how it's usually broadcast in the UK. Is it usually PPV? Thanks.

Setanta was the last broadcaster of UFC events here in the UK. UFC events were 'free' to subscribers, not PPV. Setanta UK went out of business last month, which led to UFC100 being broadcast on a spare Sky channel with free internet streaming as a stopgap measure to ensure UK fans did not miss out.
An announcement is due on the future of the UFC in the UK, with a new broadcaster(s) expected to be revealed well before UFC 101 on August 8th.
Here Gareth Davies interviews Marshall Zelaznik. See from approx 4.00 to hear comments regarding the future of UFC in the UK.

Thanks. I have (had, I guess) Setanta and thought that I had seen it on a Setanta channel in the past. Interestingly, UFC100 was free-to-air in the US this weekend.

I would pick Josh Barnett to beat Lesnar also.. I give Brock credit for getting where he has in the UFC but I find him damn boring to watch. He not exciting at all.

Boy was it great watching Bisping get knocked out. That was some funny stuff!!

As for the show in general. UFC 100 was okay, nothing special though!

I'm with you there. I was expecting fireworks from GSP/Alves & Bisping/Henderson, but all they delivered was a methodical beat-down and a lucky punch!

GSP/Alves especially hurt me. I understand exactly why GSP did what he did, he's no muppet - but in my dreams I had them going toe to toe stand up for five rounds.

Bispings knock out was a highlight for me, despite my betting on him. Lesnar v Mir was as I expected apart from the fact that I would have thought that Lesnar would have dropped the panto by now.

Overall if I'm honest I think I let the hype of the hole thing spoil it a bit, not sure how it could not have been an anti climax in some way

Still Griffin v Silva a couple of weeks away, lets hope they get a carrier sorted

UFC 105 is in Manchester in November. Any ideas of what the main event will be? My guess is Michael Bisping vs Wanderlei Silva.

Frank Mir = one of the most overated fighters of all time.

Bisping = typical Brit getting exposed.

Frank Mir has never been that good. I think some people just forgot how bad he was after the accident.

Yeah he beat Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira but Nog is a washed up fighter now.

As for Bisping, I remember that fight vs Matt Hamill and how Hamill was robbed of victory by the judges.

Bisping's a decent fighter but no doubt it's a big difference fighting cans in front of a home UK crowd and fighting a legend in front of a hostile Vegas crowd. He looked very anxious from when he came out to the octagon and looked a lot smaller than normal. UFC should have him fight on a few more US cards if they're serious about building him up.

mir is a great submission artist, and now his stand up is catching up, even for 30secs in round 2 agaisnt lesnar his stand up looked good lol

he lost cos he fought a super heavyweight, i believe he would have won if same weightclass

mir has had ups and downs but i believe if he keeps training like he is,he will win more than he loses in the UFC

i expect him to beat likes of kongo, gonzaga and vasquelez(although that would be a close one) personally,......and he break kimbos arm!

I'd love to see Mir vs Kongo!

It is difficult to imagine who could seriously trouble Lesnar at the moment. I agree that he is too big for a heavy weight, and belongs in a super-heavy weight division.
Obviously the winner of Carwin vs Velasquez at UFC 104 will be next in line for a title shot, and will carry the hopes of most MMA fans on their shoulders! The thought of Lesnar being HW champ for years is a truly depressing one!

Agreed. I'm intrigued by Marshall Zelaznik's comments about two deals in the UK. Hope this means a non-Sky channel will be involved and that we'll also gain coverage of WEC events.

I'll give you Kongo as he's got zero ground game, but I'd expect both Gonzaga and Velasquez to beat Mir. There's no way he'd stand and trade with any of those 3 either.

Kimbo is a joke, I think even Eddie Sanchez would beat him.

Those 30 secs showed that if Lensar tried to trade with Fedor he would get Knocked out.

But I doubt we'll ever see Fedor in the UFC.

In the UFC, nobody. Aint a great HW division there at the moment. Any heavyweights though and as said Fedor would be far to strong, fast, and technically is in a different world than Lesnar. Anyone see him destroy Tim Sylvia? Could see Lesnar going down just as easily.

Indeed. He would be silly to aswell. I've kinda followed Mir through his development and that accident was nasty. Bound to take alot out of anyone. His first few fights back were awful. But as somebody said above his stand up is improving a bit and his fitness is returning. And he has brutal Jui-Jitsu. A fight against Gonzaga would be great matchup i think. Gonzaga wins the standup but Mir is a demon on the ground.

-------------------------------

Say what you like about Bisping (and i'm not a fan ) but he earned $150k that night. Third highest purse on the card (not including bonuses) and lost to one of the best middleweights in the world. Bring on Henderson v Silva 2!

Can't see Fedor signing up anytime soon but I can see Dana bringing Lashley in to the UFC. Maybe a bit of a publicity stunt but his size and speed would be on a par with Lesnar's.

Lashley needs a real fight first. He has fought 2 jobbers. Those fights were a joke!!

Fedor once again basically saying unless UFC change there terms he will not be fighting in the UFC.

lashley would be worth a bet to beat lesnar

the thing i like about mir is how aggressive his jui-jitsu is, i hope he fights again soon, never has boring fights win or lose

i hope to see bisping return too,im not sure why he was so scared of hendos punch from the get-go,its as if his fear got him KO'd

i gotta feeling griffen might beat silva you know, he wont look for decision or bide his time, either KO or be KO'd

any guys watch strikeforce? some great cards last few months and another great 1 scheduled for aug 15th, not to mention they have the great one...nick diaz

U gotta be careful about Henderson's right hand. Henderson bangs. What Bisping was doing wrong was circling clockwise into the right hand. He should of been going the other way. Thats basic stuff.

yeh i agree, but he was jumpy and flinching from the start, he has the skill to out box hendo points wise but never got going
