Noguiera has always eaten big punches. That's just the way he fights.

I think both of them still have a lot to offer and were both in tremendous condition. It was the best fight I've seen for ages. If only it would have been 5 rounds!

Channel Five have signed a deal for a 1 hour weekly UFC highlights show on Monday nights at midnight, according to wrestlingobserver.com. Randy Couture vs Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira from UFC 102 will be shown on 14th September.

This from the Radio Times website:

Quote:
“Also featured is the middleweight clash between Nate Marquardt and Demian Maia, while Thiago Silva takes on Keith Jardine.”

Especially handy for those who don't have ESPN....

Network UK coverage is a massive, massive step forward for the sport over here. Big props to both UFC and C5 for making it happen. Now let's have some decent fights again, eh

And "The Ultimate Fighter" goes to Five USA, good news for us none ESPN subscribers.

Now that's interesting, as it's advertised as starting on ESPN from next week. Maybe it's on an x month delay ? Wouldn't have thought they'd split the rights for it over two channels you need *some* hardware for, even if it's only a DVB-T receiver.

I think last season was broadcast on both setanta and V1. One on the Sunday night and one midweek.

Full press release from the UFC site.

edit:

According to Gareth Davies it starts on five USA on saturday 19th Sept. at 11pm, how soon is that after ESPN show it?

25 hours, the first showing on ESPN is on Friday at 10pm, with a repeat late on Saturday during the 103 buildup. Be interesting to see if TUF/"The Main Event" gives any boost to ESPNs subscriber base by the time it's ended the season.

It’s not just about his age. Your right his always taken punishment but that’s the problem. His aged a lot quicker because of the way he has fought. However now it’s even worse as he will just take more punishment as his so slow. The body can only take so much. Also I don’t see how getting destroyed v Frank Mir or struggling v Tim Sylvia and Heath Herring is part of the course. Noguiera in his prime would of beaten those guys no problem. The way those fights went are all the evidence you need of a shot fighter.

Brock Lesnar would kill him.

Agreed - I am a longtime boxing fan but UFC or Cage-fighting just sickens me !

I was brought upo to fight like a man , one against one , using ONLY fists .

THe thought of kicking someone inthe face or head or knocking someone to the floor so you can ELBOW them in the face or temple is DISGUSTING.

This is nearly as bad as dogfighting/ bul fighting or badgerbaiting.

It won't last because someone will DIE on TV and that will be the end of all the nonsence !

MMA is far safer than boxing. No one is reported to have died in professional cage fight, while many boxers have died or suffered horrendous brain damage. This is because of the huge number of shots to the head boxers suffer compared to MMA fighters. In fact, there are MANY more dangerous sports -- American football, rugby, motor sports etc.

And I really can't see why it is more "manly" or more acceptable to smash someone in the face with your fist than an elbow.

check out Erik Morales who is 33 but was shot at 30 years old and compare to Floyd Mayweather who is 32 but fresh as a daisy. I love Morales as a fighter but he aged so so quickly as he just had too many wars. Age doesnt decide if a fighter is shot.

I dont see how anyone can argue that Noguiera isnt shot. Exactly what else does he need to do to prove his done.

Sounds like the uneducated ranting of somebody who has no idea about MMA.

Also, according to the UFC UK president (Marshall somebody), UFC were considering running in Liverpool and Newcastle before deciding on Manchester for UFC 105. Hopefully that means they'll come way up north next year!

EDIT: Marshall Zelaznik - the interview is on the front page of ifight365.

Congratulations, you just pointed out one of the key differences that makes boxing a lot more dangerous than MMA. You don't know what you're talking about, and you're completely uninformed.

What like people have in boxing? Yeah whatever happened to THAT sport?

It always amazes me how people jump on their pedestal about things they know nothing about...
