Great start. Johnson completely took him apart.

coming from a hardcore machida fan,
I have absolutely no idea how Lyoto got that decision. Definitely something dodgy going on there |

lol, the look on Machida's face when they announced the decision was priceless!
It looked like Shogun was going to cry. Crap fight though. |

I quite liked the fight, a lot of striking involved and I always had the feeling it could end at any second. Would have bet my house that Buffer was going to announce Shogun at the end there, and can't be fully happy about Lyoto winning because I really do think Shogun won that fight. Will have to watch it again though, apparently Rogan shouting "SHOGUN LEG KICK SHOGUN LEG KICK" every few seconds, whilst not acknowledging that Lyoto was often punching him back in the face, may be why a lot of people watching think Shogun should have won. Good fight though
I suppose the most telling thing is that at the end you could tell that Machida thought he had lost, the look of shock on his face when they announced his name was brilliant. Harsh on Shogun but he didn't do enough to decisively win. |

Yeah, Rogan's commentary was very one sided. I only had the first and last rounds as definitely Shogun's, 3 & 4 could have gone either way. One of the blogs that was doing live scoring gave all 5 rounds to Shogun which was bull.

Harsh on Shogun but he didn't do enough to decisively win. Also - I have not seen ONE official website give the fight to Machida. At the end of the day, fighters should never bank on decisions but it was way too risky to try and KO Machida or take him down. Shogun was robbed and it's about time Cecil Peoples was removed from judging duties. http://fightmetric.com/fights/Machida-Shogun.html |

I think last nights title fight is a good reason why there should be no scoring in a title fight and just have it so it goes until there is a ko, stoppage, submission or a fighter quits.
Shogun definitely looked to have won that fight to me. He won the striking game, dealth and delivered more damage and was the aggressor for most of the fight. Not sure what fight the judges watched to give it to Machida. |

Dana said he's going to sort a rematch straight away. Amazed that Machida is up for that considering how the fight went last night.

Another round or two of those leg kicks and it'd all been over and the correct result would have been recorded.

Big shame about Lesnar, was really looking forward to him beating Carwin (not that I have anything against Carwin, but he has no chance against Lesnar. Neither does Cain, too small)
In terms of the Machida fight, one of the judges released a statement saying that the reason he gave it to Machida was because he landed the more clean strikes - i.e quality over quantity. Need to watch the fight again to make up my own mind for definite though |

Quality over quantity my fat arse! Anyway... Forrest/Tito II is a good replacement main event IMO but then again I am a Forrest fangirl ![]() Can't wait for his comeback! |

I thought that shogun just about edged it. If that wasn't a title fight then I guarentee he'd have got the decision. The problem is with the unwritten rule that if you're going to beat the champ on points then you have to do it decisively.
It's a shame about Lesnar. I actually think Carwin's got a great chance (well, better than anyone other UFC heavyweight). I doubt the tito/forrest fight will be bumped to main headline event. It's a nothing fight with no title/contender implications. |

I'd just like to think that Cecil Peoples is blind and horrible at his job lol BTW, right now Forrest/Tito II is the new main event: http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=news.detail&gid=23331 |

True about the Forrest/Rampage fight. Rampage was clearly having trouble standing on his leg though whereas Machida didn't seem too phased by the leg kicks.
Why do people always single out Cecil Peoples? Is it just because he has a silly name?

I wonder if Team Rampage might get a win on tomorrow night's TUF. That big guy Marcus finally fight isn't it against the guy who keeps moaning about his shoulder?

Just watched the preview for tonights TUF on UFC.com. Its a shame we'll never see Rashad and Rampage fight in the UFC. They look like they want to kill each other.
