Oh well kill the buzz on that why don't you.

The Wrestling Observer has a story up saying Georges St Pierre is seriously considering trying to go for the freestyle wrestling category at the London Olympics and if he does, UFC 111 will be his last match, till 2012 at least.

I agree, I don't think anybody in the UFC is in the same league as Anderson Silva, I believe he will bury Belfort.

Also apparently Silva HAS to fight the winner of the 2nd Machida/Shogun fight so that should be interesting.

Yes GSP said on ESPN last week that he is thinking about it and needs to talk to Dana etc to see what he can do. He said he needs 12 months solid training to get up to standard. He said he is going to focus on Hardy and then make a decision after that. I think he will take the 2012 option.

Andrew Dismore MP is this week trying to have the video recording act amended so every dvd released has to have a bbfc rating; currently dvds can be exempt if they are sport or music. This proposed change in law is specifically aimed at UFC, so UFC dvds cannot be sold to children. I'd assume if this goes through it's gonna cost clear vision a packet. If you were thinking about buying any exempt UFC/Pride dvd now may be the time.

LOL at Joe Rogan saying the winner of Couture/Coleman is the number one contender at 205 on the fight night tonight. Some how I doubt Lyoto Machida is worried.

How many children buy UFC DVDs? I can't imagine that it will make much difference at all. They will either be rated 15 or 18, and a few teenage UFC fans will be unable to buy the 18 rated ones. I have a full set of the PRIDE DVDs that ClearVision released and they all have proper BBFC certificates - the only one I can see that has an 18 is the PRIDE 21/22 double pack, which contained the Frye/Takayama fight that was very brutal. All the others are 15.

Some of the later Prides are unrated, open weight grand prix 2006 for example, and all the UFC's from 84 onwards are. The DVD the MP objected to going out unrated was UFC Best of 2007. I agree not many children will be that interested in UFC. My point was really that if it goes through all the UFC dvds from 84 onwards will have to be deleted then re issued with a rating, and clear vision may not want to do that, given they'd have to pay a five figure sum in bbfc fees for all of 'em together, ergo now may be the time to buy if you want one of the unrated ones.

Yet they must be scared of running head to head against Floyd Mayweather considering the date was originally May 1st but is now May 8th as it looks like PBF will be fighting Mosley on May 1st. Dana owned once again

This afternoon, a UFC source told Cagewriter that UFC 113 was headed for May 8. This evening UFC president Dana White confirmed the date change. The switch was made possible when the Bell Centre was able to move a May 8 concert.

“We were trying to not go the same night as boxing but these [expletive] guys can’t get out of their own way,” White told Cagewriter. “I have never seen anything so unorganized, selfish and disfunctional as boxing. It’s a joke!”
lol @ Dana White. Money Mayweather has got Pacquiao and UFC running scared.

What is the main event for UFC 113? Quinton v Rashad or Shogun v Machida? After the last fight are people really gonna be that interested in the Shogun v Machida fight?

UFC 113 card currently has:

Shogun vs. Machida II
Josh Koscheck vs. Paul Daley
Patrick Cote vs. Alan Belcher
Kimbo Slice vs. Matt Mitrione (could be a main card, but I think it's a prelim)
Sam Stout vs. Jeremy Stephens
Jonathan Goulet vs. Marcus Davis
TJ Grant vs. Johny Hendricks

Obviously more fights to announce.

Thats a really good double header. Especially considering the heat between Jackson and Rashad which will be reignited in the Countdown show to this card.

As for UFC changing it's date, it makes sense. Why potentially damage your PPV buyrate, when you can go the following week and have a larger PPV buying audience to attract.

UFC 103 wasn't that big of a card.

Meanwhile there will be 3 UFC events in 10 days during the end of March. UFC on Versus 1, UFC 111, and UFC Fight Night 21. Versus is an American cable channel for those wondering. Not sure how it will affect your viewing. But currently the cards for each look like this:

UFC on Versus 1 (March 21st, Colorado)

Brandon Vera vs. Jon Jones (main event)
Junior Dos Santos vs. Gabriel Gonzaga
Clay Guida vs. Shannon Gugerty
Cheick Kongo vs. Paul Buentello
Anthony Johnson vs. John Howard

James Irvin vs. Alessio Sakara (prelim)
Duane Ludwig vs. Spencer Fisher (prelim)
Eliot Marshall vs. Vladimir Mutuyshenko (prelim)
Mike Pierce vs. Rob Kimmons (prelim)

More fights will be announced.

UFC 111 (March 27th, New Jersey)

Georges St. Pierre vs. Dan Hardy (main event, title fight)
Frank Mir vs. Shane Carwin (interim title)
Jim Miller vs. Mark Bocek
Martin Kampmann vs. Ben Saunders
Thiago Alves vs. Jon Fitch

Matt Brown vs. Ricardo Almeida (prelim)
Ricardo Funch vs. Matt Riddle (prelim)
Jared Hamman vs. Rodney Wallace (prelim)
Nate Diaz vs. Rory Markham (prelim, Diaz 170 lbs debut)

UFC Fight Night 21 (March 31st, North Carolina)

Kenny Florian vs. Takanori Gomi (main event)
Roy Nelson vs. Stefan Struve
Nate Quarry vs. Jorge Rivera
Gleison Tibau vs. Carol Uno
Yushin Okami vs. Lucio Linhares
Cole Miller vs. Andre Winner
Ross Pearson vs. Dennis Siver

More fights will be announced soon. After this broadcast the new season of The Ultimate Fighter airs.

Maybe, but no one can say with any certainty. On his day, Belfort's striking is good enough to beat anyone, and I don't think you can judge fully on recent track record, because people can come back to form- Shogun Rua for example.

From MMAJunkie.com

Straying from the normal format and surely likely to cause more than a few head scratches, Ultimate Fighting Championship and Spike TV officials today confirmed that the upcoming 11th season of "The Ultimate Fighter" will feature 28 middleweight fighters.

The show traditionally features 16 or 32 competitors because of its single-elimination tournament format, though officials promise a "new format" that will be revealed during the show's March 31 debut.

"TUF 11," which features former champs Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz as coaches, today went into production.

The "TUF 11" season debut airs at 10 p.m. ET/PT following Spike TV's broadcast of UFC Fight Night 21, which is expected to be headlined by Kenny Florian vs. Takanori Gomi.

As MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) recently reported, The Ultimate Fighter 11 Finale, which serves as the season's live-event conclusion, takes place on June 19.

But how does the cast go from 28 cast members to the final two? Without some tweaking, it's of course not possible – without first-round byes, double-eliminations or some other tinkering of the traditional tournament format. For example, a host of former UFC fighters (such as Bobby Southworth, Nick Thompson and Logan Clark) recently tried out for the show, and perhaps those UFC vets selected for the cast get an automatic berth into the second round.

Spike TV officials, though, told MMAjunkie.com the details of the format change will be kept under wraps until the March 31 debut.

"TUF" debuted on Spike TV in 2005 and has since launched the careers of more than 100 UFC fighters. In addition to producing champions such as Matt Serra, Forrest Griffin and Rashad Evans, the series continually produces top-level talent and perennial contenders. Both Ortiz and Liddell have previously coached on the groundbreaking series, which shattered ratings records with the recently concluded 10th season.
