I was just using Bader as an example of someone who has worked hard in that division, someone who has at least some sort of pedigree in the division, what pedigree in this division does Sonnen have?
What right does he have to just jump to the top of the line, and get a title shot?
That he has a big mouth, and that he can talk practicaly non-stop about himself, and how good he is?
He hasn't done anything in this division, as for saying that he isn't a young guy, well, tough, he should have moved up earlier then, and built a solid base to deserve or earn a title shot, like you know others have done before him.

Trying to get ratings for a show that is falling out of favour, should not be a reason to give someone a title shot, people should earn them, by winning matches/bouts (call them what you will).

This fight is only happening because of Sonnen's mouth, and not what he has acheived in this division, if what you have done in a division, is now no longer important, why have seperate division's at all then?
Why not just have a shouting contest, and whoever shouts the loudest, gets a title shot, as this is what it looks like here.

Yes, Sonnen is good, but at his own weight level, to be considered good at this weight level, he must earn it, sorry to keep repeating myself, but I guess I must be on my own in thinking that title fights must be earnt by the challenger.
Sorry, but you're wrong. The fight isn't only happening because of Sonnen's mouth. It's happening because every other contender didn't have the balls to take on Jones. Sonnen offered to take this fight on EIGHT DAYS notice. Every other contender, bar Henderson (who eventually was ruled out), refused the fight.

It's not debatable, Dana has said it over and over again. He's said it 15 times just now on the live conference call with the two fighters, no other contender wanted to step up and fight him. Sonnen was the only one. He didn't get this shot by talking bad about Jones. And eventually everything fitted together. Sonnen wanted the fight. Jones wasn't able to compete until around April time. Jones wanted this fight. And numerous other positives. And in the mean time you allow people such as Henderson, Machida, Rua etc (who are all fighting soon) to get themselves in line for a title shot.

Each to their own, but personally, I don't think someone moving up in weight, should get a title shot without earning it, by winning matches at that weight.
I know that migt sound strange, but hey ho, nevermind, that is just my view, I must be an outsider to hold that view, I don't mind.

Sonnen has now got it, so I guess all of this talk is irrelevant, and he will be put in his place, and he will continue to yap away afterwords as is his way.

I will do what he wants, watch him, although not exactly, as he wants people to pay to watch hm, and since we don't have to do that in this country (I wonder for how much longer that will last?), that is something for another debate and another day.

He certainly knows how to get fights, that much is without question, it is if he deserves them, that I just have the issue with.

Bonnar officially calls it a day. He also failed a drugs test post Silva fight.

Also, Bisping/Belfort main event in Brazil, should be a good one. Gonzaga/Rothwell too.

tmz is reporting strikeforce is finished after a final show on 12th January, and that Ronda Rousey is now the UFC 135 pound womens champion.

Has he failed another one? Doesn't this make 2... seriously... how stupid is he.

And presumably Anderson is gonna call him out if he wins.

So that win by GSP now I think means that neither he nor Spider will defend their respective belts, until they fight each other.

Whuch is harsh to basically suspend both divisions, or put them in limbo for the time being, but it does look like a "Superfight" is on the cards, after that, who knows what will happen.
Will Spider defend his belt again (as any potential GSP fight will be at a catchweight, and not for the belt), and will GSP defend against Hendricks after the Spider fight?

Soo many questions.

a super one sided fight
no way can GSP beat Silva he is too big too strong too talented
I think GSP would take such a beating that it be the end of his career as is aura of being a great fighter would be over
whereas at his own weight he can dominate for a long time yet

Great fight, scary moment with the head kick but GSP is such a pro. Usually you're waiting for that one punch to end everything but GSP is such an incredible martial artist you can relax and enjoy the spectacle.

Sonnen getting the next shot at Jones is now not as controversial as the welterweight title situation; Dana White has announced that Nick Diaz is GSP's next opponent, simply because that'll make more money than any other GSP fight- except Anderson, and apparently they couldn't put together Anderson/GSP. Diaz lost his last fight and is coming off a drugs ban- all be it for marijuana.

Johnny Hendricks got screwed.

I agree what a joke Diaz stepping straight into a title fight - Dana White should be ashamed promoting drug cheats in this fashion

I wouldn't say I was a huge fan, but do like to watch some programmes about it on TV sometimes. Some of the matches on FX Channel, that sort of thing.

Saw Alex Reid on TV cage fighting, when he was on Bravo, just before the channel dissapeared for good.

I dunno what they'd do if Diaz won; he doesn't seem like he's going to stop smoking pot, meaning UFC would have a champ likely to fail more tests. I guess they think he has no chance against GSP. Be funny if they were wrong.

The UFC appears to have absolutely no REAL punishment for drug offences.

- Overeem - First fight back from suspension is due to be a title fight.

- Sonnen - 2 title fights out of 4 since returning from suspension.

- Diaz - Title fight (although am chuffed this fight is actually gonna happen its still wrong)

What kind of message does this send out? Even Bonnar has realised that he was never gonna get a title shot on performance alone so he has tried the doping/fast-track method.

Also with regards to Sonnen, didn't he stand in the middle of the octagon after the Bisping fight and declare he would quit the UFC if he lost to Silva in the rematch?

All talk.

Really good show last night, though utter domination in three of the four fights. BJ was simply battered from start to finish by Rory, seriously needs to call it a day now.

Gustafsson the clear winner in the Shogun fight. Good fight, Shogun giving it everything as per usual, but Gustafsson was the clear cut winner here and looked a different class for me.

Diaz couldn't really get going what so ever. Outclassed by Henderson who came in with the right gameplan and pretty much dominated most of the fight.

As for Nick Diaz getting a title shot, it's nowhere near as horrendous as some are making it. He was supposed to fight GSP before the injury to GSP, which meant he had to fight Condit instead, which he lost (though still a close fight). Leading up to that he had an 11 fight win streak. Oh and of course he's a name that will draw a good amount of interest and sell well. None of this is to say Hendricks shouldn't be getting a title shot, but Diaz getting one isn't some mad and horrendous decision.

TUF Smashes final last night was really good. George got battered by Pearson too, knocked down in every round before finally being finished in the third. Probably the most impressed I've been by Pearson.

Really liked Scott in that fight too despite losing it.

The next TUF final is tonight too. Shame Carwin is out and wont smash Nelson though. Hoping Richie wins too.

...
I really enjoyed the fight. I'll give George credit for his recovery power. When his legs went for the first time I was kind of annoyed thinking that's it all over, so glad he held in for further punishment

He was still a dick in the interview afterwards mind, you'd swear it was just one lucky punch that had finished him the way he was talking

Bisping gets knocked out by Belfort.

Really a blessing in disguise for Michael, as Anderson Silva would've nuked him into another dimension.

Bisping got owned very easily sadly.
I would like to see a UK Champion some time soon, the best that I think that we will have to do, is to try and claim Overeem as one of ours, (well he was born in Nuneaton) even though he wants to be known as a Dutch person.

Anyone going to watch "The Mouth" aka Sonnen in the Ultimate Fighter?

Overeem badly exposed when (presumably) not on performance enhancing drugs. Not a shock.

That's what happens when you talk sh*t to Bigfoot. What a sight that was as he had to be held back while he was going absolute nuts, awesome finish.

Evans was a major disappointment to be honest, really poor performance here.

That and being cocky, shame. Looks like he'll go the same way as Brock now.

Dana said today they have too many fighters and need to cut 100! They cut 16 yesterday, including Jon Fitch, who had a 14-3-1 record in UFC.

I'd expect this will lead to more boring fights as people will play it safe in attempting not to lose.
