Hendricks wasn't screwed. Round 1 (which ended up being the decisive round on the judges scorecards) was very close and easily could have been scored either way. I think most people are agreed that Hendricks won 2 and 4 while GSP won 3 and 5. Hendricks won his rounds more convincingly and ended up doing more facial damage but that doesn't earn him any extra points and doesn't make up for the fact that he failed (in the eyes of two of the judges - and me) to win round 1.

Ridiculous decision. I'm completely on the fence with both of those fighters and haven't watched UFC in years; time difference as I'm in Singapore made it easy to watch this morning but I won't bother again.

Hendricks punished him for the fight... he easily won the first round, GSP had maybe the first 90s with his takedown and that was it. Round 3 I'd score as a tie, Hendricks didn't do a great deal but neither did GSP, they both landed a couple of shots and that was it. Even in the 5th round Hendricks showed better ring control despite GSP going in for takedowns. Everytime they clinched he completely man handled him.

I also think GSP knew which probably was a catalyst for his decision.

That was hard to judge, have to say the old adage of not doing enough to dethrone a champion. Hendricks looked better.

GSP got beat up. Thought he lost the fight but that first round was personal preference. We all see things in a different way and thankfully so do judges.

Glad GSP is done for now though. A shadow of his former self since the knee injury.

Presumably UFC can't keep the title on GSP if he is voluntarily not defending it, so who knows what will happen.. His interview reminded me a bit of that Matt Hamill interview after Jon Jones had repeatedly elbowed him in the head, though it wasn't as bad as that.

Now far be it from me to engage in foul gossip & slander, but GSP is a dirty dog.

They did while he was injured. Can see them having an interim champion, if GSP will be back in a year or 18 months. Sets up a unification fight then.

If it's any longer than that the interim becomes full champion.

Tough call for The UFC though. All depends on if or when GSP will be back.

Usually watching a Canadian sit on some guy for 25 minutes is pretty boring, unless it's Shania Twain. Ironically this fight was the one I was hoping he would do just that, completely outclass and nullify Hendricks, alas he got beat up.

Obviously if he's having those problems that explains a lot, I don't really expect GSP to knock guys out anymore, although in the third round he did perk up a little after looking worn out. I was worried he was going to fall asleep by the looks of him.

Apparently UFC Heavyweight Shane Del Rosario has passed away, R.I.P and so very young too.

Nate Diaz, that was one hell of an end.

The GSP Hendricks was the worst decision I have ever seen in an MMA contest
GSP had no answer to Hendricks and when they raised GSP's hand at the end I thought it was April 1st

the judges who scored that decision should be sacked

On a different note looking like the end of the rd for Maynard after his beating from Nate Diaz

I wonder how far the UFC will go with the women's side of things?

Will they eventually end up having the same weight clases for the women, as they currently do for the men?

Or will they stop at just one or two different weight classes?

It will be interesting to see just how seriosuly they do take that side of things, and how much of a push they do give it.

It's not even close to one of the worst decisions. It's barely the worst of this year for that matter, let alone ever.

Dana already confirmed they're working on a new division, will be 115 lbs. No idea how soon, likely midway next year.

Yeah, I heard about that, which lead me to question, if we will ever see parity with the men.

I could see the women pushing for this in due course though, which would put the pressue on Dana to even things out, but will he cave in and do just that? I think it will take a very long time, if ever though to get parity.

give me a break.. it was a complete disgrace and was quite simply the worst decision I have ever seen in the UFC - and I have been watching and spectatating for 10 yrs now
never have I seen such a robbery
Hendricks won the ground game he won the standup he was far more agressive he did a ton of damage - and he looked unmarked
quite simply a disgrace that GSP won that

I thought Hendricks won like most other people by one round, 48-47. However, how can you possibly say that a relatively close one round call is the worst decision in the history of the UFC if you've been watching regularly for 10 years?

It's not even remotely in the same league as Phan-Garcia . I'd argue Machida-Davis was the worst call this year in all honesty.

December was always going to be an immense month for the UFC and that was pretty much confirmed on Friday.

If you didn't see it, go and watch Bigfoot/Hunt right now. Arguably the greatest Heavyweight fight in MMA history. An absolute war.

The Bigfoot v Hunt was the best Heavyweight fight I have seen total heart shown by both fighters

in regards to Machida-Davis THe called it right... Machida had too many long periods of doing nothing

Gladiators would have been proud of hunt & bigfoot. I didn't catch it until last night. What a fight.

GSP vacates title, Johny Hendricks vs. Robbie Lawler on March 15th for the 170lb belt.

He had a great career, but probably for the best if he really is having memory problems.

Paul Daley on BAMMA 14.

Spoiler
What an effing punch, everyone expecting the right and a devastating uppercut, I was like WTF! Where did that come from.

Silva v Weidman, can't wait for that. Is it the end of the road for the spider like Fedor or Chuck, or will he destroy Weidman.

Belfort will murder Weidman I hope, sad end to Silva's career though. That's the second time I have seen someone break their leg in the cage, was hoping I wouldn't have to see it again.

Weidman is big, strong, accurate and reads the attack well. He beats Belfort in my opinion.

Horrible end to the fight though. Never want to see anything like that happen. Not the way Silva would have wanted his career to end. Which I imagine will happen now.

Weidman vs Jones anyone???

Not really, Weidman has the recipe to beat Belfort, if you look at Belfort's previous losses to people like Couture & Tito Ortiz it has been down to getting put on his back and having elbows/fists rained down on him, that is Chris Weidman's specialty, also Weidman is not the type of guy that will walk in to a Belfort flurry also.

I think Weidman's true big test lies in Lyoto Machida, that is a fight that will be very difficult for him.
