Huge ufc fan, went to LA few years ago up see it, fantastic!!
Now they are on way the hydro in Glagow on 18th July, UFC Fight night 73. Woohoo (I'm from Scotland!) Can't wait for silva v Diaz nxt week!! Yeah I went to Vegas for Penn VS Diaz and it was just awesome. Aiming for Glasgow too. My mate paid £220 for a ticket for the Sweden show and that was a floor seat about six rows from the front, you'd have to pay about $1000 for that in Vegas so hopefully the price of the Scotland tickets will be around the same. |

I went to the MGM in 2005 and paid £320 each for two tickets about 1/3 of the way into the crowd
Mine was at the Mandalay Bay. Love Vegas. |

Yeh hope the tickets are a wee bit cheaper, think I paid about 180 dollars which was about £350 for my ticket in LA and I was about 5 or 6 rows up on the first tier. Great view and seats but expencive I would expect to be in the ground seats for that price in Glasgow.

Hopefully it'll be a decent card in Scotland too.
JoJo Calderwood surely has to be on there. |

If anyone is a gambler, I recommend BetVictor for placing bets on the UFC.
For each event I put on £15 on generally six fights. If one of them is an underdog then the return is usually about £180. So so hard to predict six fights tho! I'm also part of an MMA Betting Pool ran by an MMA radio show. It was $50 to enter and the top five get paid out. |

Gastelum was hospitalised during his weight cut. Eventually ended up weighing in at 10lbs over weight during the weigh in's. Big fan of the guy but this isn't the first time he's had this issue, he looked broken during the weigh in's.
No surprise that Lineker was also overweight which McCall didn't seem too happy about, again, not constant issue for Lineker. |

Well that main event was not the best was it?
Both Spider and Nick are counter artists, and boy did it show, shame that we got the bout that we did, however I have no idea how Nick can claim to think he won any round, nevermind all of them! |

Not the greatest PPV, or the most exciting main event. Silva and Diaz seemed more content to shuffle and showboat than land anything. If it wasn't for the hot crowd the bout would've been a total dud.
On the upside, delighted to see Silva back (I can't see this being his retirement swansong) and glad he got through the bout, not only unscathed but the winner. How Diaz believed he won any of those rounds is beyond me! I'm looking forward to the next Rousey fight, but Im only REALLY pumped for Aldo-McGregor. Conor, love him or hate him, is the hottest fighter in the world right now, and I am delighted he's getting a title shot this year. Think it's a shame the match couldn't be held in Ireland; Dana White mentioned that restrictions meant Croke Park was out of the question, but what about the Aviva? Or even the 3 Arena again? Not as big as a stadium, but it'd sell out in minutes, and if the crowd were anything like they were at the Fight Night there last year, the atmosphere would be electric. Anyhow, McGregor is the most exciting thing in MMA right now, and he will electrify any venue he shows up in. My heart believes he can beat Aldo, though my head is saying it won't be quite as straightforward as the Notorious One envisions it, and Jose is obviously no slouch in the Octagon. Go Conor!!! |

Not interested in the women fighters at all... they cant punch and nearly al fights turn into slap fests - plus the rest of the card that night looks pretty weak to be honest
Koschek v Ellenburger = borefest of the year the next fight night has Edson Barbosa he is worth the admission on his own - love watching him perform and Pettis should destroy Dos Anjos in what looks a good card Mcgregor should not be in the same ring as Aldo and I see a 1st round submission in that fight |

So just watched the Silva v Diaz fight ( don't have BT so get UFC by other means then watch them Sunday night )
Anywho I have to agree with others the whole card was a borefest, naturally Diaz spouting his mouth off and claiming the win ( not sure who has the worse walk on pout face Nick Diaz or Ronda Rousey ), glad Silva won, would be interesting if Silva steps up to face Belfort seeing as Weidman is injured. I actually thought the Lauzon v Al Iaquinta fight was the best of the bunch. Just on another point, I really cannot understand all this hype regarding Conor Mcgregor, so he's won a couple of fights and can trash talk his opponents, big deal, It still mystifies me he gets a title shot at Aldo after only 5 fights in the UFC and ith other fighters in front of him in the standings. |

There's a lot to be said for trash talk. Conor sells tickets and gets fans excited. And it's not like he's lost his last few fights. Why shouldn't he get the title shot?
Win or lose, we'll see whether Dana made the right call for Aldo-McGregor when the PPV buyrate comes in. I predict it'll be one of the biggest numbers of the year. If you think there are better and more deserving fighters than Conor, fair enough, you may even be right. But the Notorious One has that special something that a lot of other fighters on his level don't: charisma, and the ability to sell tickets and PPVs just by opening his mouth. I love the UFC, but God, some of the main eventers I've seen over the years seem like they've only just learned how to speak in public. |

Connor is just following in the Sonnen footsteps of getting title fights, speak loud and often, and get yourself noticed, that seems to be the way to get a title shot these days, shame for the people whose first language is not English.

Both Silva & Diaz failed drug tests, Silva failed a January 9th test for drostanolone, a steroid, and Diaz, as usual, failed a post fight test for marijuana.
Interesting to find out if UFC knew Anderson had failed before the fight. Edit- they are claiming they found out yesterday. |

That's Silva's legacy gone in the blink of an eye.
A lot of talk now that it was an open secret that he was using throughout his entire UFC career. |

Interesting to find out if UFC knew Anderson had failed before the fight. Edit- they are claiming they found out yesterday. Business is more important and the show must go on. I do find it funny that this is all happening under the watch of Dana White who at every opportunity used to slate Boxing and it's 'corruption'. The same guy who claimed the ufc has tighter drug regulations than the NFL. Now as for Anderson's legacy being tarnished, I don't think so. Let's be real here many many fighters are juicing it's just they are cycling on and off so come fight time they pass the test. I don't think inside the industry Silva will be looked at as a pariah simply because steroids and MMA go hand in hand. If it really did take 3 weeks for the results to be known then the NSAC really has become not fit for purpose. |

That really is disappointing from both of them, and really does hurt the UFC's credibility.
I wonder if Silva will retire now, oir will he stick to his ten (now nine) fight deal? Surely he wouldn't want to retire with all of this controversy surrounding him? |

The UFC need to take a strong stand against these drug abusers and cheats before it is too late
the credibility of the sport is in serious question with there drug policy they cut lesser fighters without question but Jon Jones snorting Coke and still fighting is a total disgrace to fighters who fight clean bitterly dissapointed with Dana's lack of punishment with these high profile drug abusers |

Silva has denied taking steroids.
Sadly for him, denials about PED's in MMA now are about as credible as Hulk Hogan denying he was on them in 1991. |

He'll likely get a nine month suspension for this, and his contract with UFC is such that he basically has to be in ppv main events to justify the cost. Added to the fact he didn't look that impressive in the fight, (and would likely be KO'd again by Chris Weidman in my 'umble opinion) I'm not sure UFC would want him back.
Never say never of course. Let's not start getting silly just because this has all come to light. Silva is arguably the greatest of all time, the idea that the UFC wouldn't want him back is absolute madness. |
