The TJ Waldburger fight is off tomorrow's card now, he passed out whilst cutting weight earlier :/

Two poor stoppages on the Prelims IMO.
Trator was pretty much out and yet the referee sat there watching him take shot after shot. The next fight Macario get's smashed with a superman punch which puts him out on his feet and he Flair flops face first into the canvas, referee should have been straight in but Dwyer was there with a few light follow up shots. Big win for Reneau over Andrade, great first round submission stoppage. |

Looking forward to tonight's show. Got my mate coming down to watch it.
I've made my picks for my bet: Derrick Lewis Dhiego Lima Norifumi Yamamoto Mark Munoz Tony Ferguson Alan Jouban Jake Ellenberger Holly Holm Ronda Rousey But I don't think Holly Holm is a dead cert like many seem to think. |

Pumped for the show, been a long wait for this Rousey/Zingano fight. Holm could really do with an impressive debut here too, Pennington has to get in close and make this a dog fight otherwise she'll be picked apart (expect Holm to get the victory here).
Said elsewhere, both Koscheck and Ellenberger have three fight losing streaks but almost all of them are against the absolute top fighters. Koscheck's losses have been Lawler, Hendricks and Woodley. The reality is they're both good fighters but not top fighters. Personally I've gone with Koscheck to win this one but I can't stand the guy so won't mind being wrong. Ferguson is great, glad he's on the main card. In other news, Kimbo against Shamrock for Bellator in June. If Shamrock makes it there without pulling out of course. |

Kimbo VS Shamrock is just ridiculous, i'm surprised Bellator are going with it. |

Is it worth turning up to fight Rousey, almost comical. She should be fighting (small) men.

Rousey is the most dominant fighter in MMA.
Heartbreaking for Zingano though, lovely person and a great fighter. Took the risk and got caught on the night. Hopefully has a quick turn around and get's straight back in there. |

The only fight left is some sort of catchweight match with Cyborg, as neither will move up or down fully to either's preferred weight class.
If that fight doesn't come off, then Rousey should just stick to movies, as there isn't anyone out there that can really push her in her own weight class. If she does want to fight, then she would just be going through the motions, as she is far too good for anyone else, Holly looked hyped up, she did well, but didn't look anything like a threat to the champion. Tate has already lost to Rousey, so would another fight be what is needed? I just don't see it being anything other than another more dominant Rousey win if they fought again. So apart from a catchweight fight with Cyborg, there really isn't anyone out there for her to challenge her. |

Rousey isnt just the most dominant in her division because the others are no good, its because she is just too good, her instincts and ability to get a win from nothing separates her from the rest, i would go as far as to say she is technically better than some of the men.
i think they should put Holm and Cat Zingano in a fight and the winner faces Rousey, or give Zigano a rematch. I agree though they are struggling to find opponents for Rousey to make it worthwhile. |

Cyborg is the obvious choice, maybe a catch weight at 140 if UFC can sign her. |

There's no chance Rousey is fighting Cyborg at catch weight anytime soon, if ever. Cyborg either proves she can make the weight or it doesn't happen. If Cyborg does ever manage to make the cut I don't expect it'll be any different for Rousey, she'll rag doll her and finish her. |

Yeah I'd agree with a good chunk of that. Quite annoying to hear some people say the division is poor. It's actually a bloody good division, it just so happens that the champion is pretty much the most dominant fighter in the game. When you take Rousey out of the equation it's actually a really exciting division for the most part with some quality fighters.
Cat v Tate again would be good, or Holly v Cat, if anything, they should have a special sort of "Anyone but Rousey" belt to signify who is the best of the rest. As for not fighting Cyborg, hey many people thought Manny and Floyd would never fight and they are, so who knows on that front, cash has a way of getting things sorted. I think that Rousey would win any match, even at the higher weight class, as her throws I don't think would be affected by being a few extra pounds heavier, if anything, they would be even more powerful and devastating. If that fight cannot get made, then there isn't anything left for her to prove or do, a rematch with Tate, would that really do anything for her?? Holly?? McMahon?? They would just be be repeats and not because any of them were close fights, they were all done pretty proto (bar Tate, but is "only fighter to take her to a second round, but then get easily beat" enough to sell a rematch??), so there is nothing for her to gain by beating them again. In a fight surely there has to be something for both sides, Rousey only really has the title, she has nothing else to prove or fight for, everyone else has a reason to fight her, and want to fight her. Rousey has no reason to fight anyone in her division. So I look forward to how they are going to push any future Rousey matches, as they went all in with they hype With Cat, and that didn't work out at all. |

Thing is on the night anybody can get caught. Holm has the right style in that she likes to fight at a distance and has a big reach advantage but if they end up in a clinch then it won't be good news for holm plus ronda striking has improved.
Cyborg is the obvious choice, maybe a catch weight at 140 if UFC can sign her. I was listening to Joe on commentary, and I was agreeing with him, he was saying that she just did a flurry of punches, but they were not really hard punches, and her kicks were just to create space, they were not doing any damage. If she got in the ring with Rousey, it would just be a case of how, and when Rousey wanted to finish the fight. The gap between the two of them is huge. I don't see anyone taking that belt away from Rousey anytime soon, the only way I could, would be if she vacated it, and that is not very likely at all. |

I agree that Holly Holm wouldn't trouble Rousey.
The only danger at the moment is Cyborg, that's pretty much it. That fight needs to happen. Over time I think there will be more top quality female fighters coming through. |

She loves the sport and she thrives on going out there and being the best. It's no different to any other dominant sports person or team. Quote:

For me that was a good showing from Holm last night on her first night in the UFC. Pennington was a decent challenge for her, felt Holm controlled the majority of it and comfortably got the job done in the end. We'll see what Holm is made of within time, certainly a potential contender to face Rousey though. Looking forward to seeing Pena return next month and how she looks after the crazy injury and over a year out. |

First point, Mayweather/Pacquiao isn't even close to a similar case as this. Them taking however many years to finally get the fight in place had nothing to do with a weight issue. They aren't comparable what so ever. There's one thing stopping Rousey and Cyborg from being the biggest fight in Women's MMA history and that's the weight. And to point out, I never said they wouldn't fight, I said there's close to no chance of the two fighting at catch weight anytime soon.
On point two, Rousey has made it clear time and time again why she still does this. She loves the sport and she thrives on going out there and being the best. It's no different to any other dominant sports person or team. Holm needs some time to find her feet. She seems pretty grounded and smart enough on that front too. There's no rush to throw her in at the deep end yet. She's got the nervous debut out of the way and now the aim should be to give her a few more fights to build on that. Maybe look at giving her the winner of Nunes/Bayszler which is later this month or Andrade. But I hope that something can be done to make it happen, as otherwise I don't know who there is for Rousey to face, that will give her a competitive bout. Yes she loves the sport, and loves getting better and better at it, but having bouts that last mere seconds doesn't push her at all, which in a way is a shame, as we probably have yet to really see her at her very best, which initself is a scary thought! I think the rest of the division could have some fantastic matches between them, but as for producing someone worthy of a title challenge, who could be a genuine threat to Rousey, I just don't see anyone there, that is how dominant and great she actually is, and that is of huge credit to her and her team. They love a good bit of build up hype in the UFC, and all of the video packages etc, but I don't quite see how they can fully do all of that and get behind Rousey's next opponent, such is the divide in class, but it will be interesting to see how they do go about building up her next opponent. As for Holly, she could have a good fight with Cat, I think that would be a good fight stylistically, but she might have to have a fight before that to get to that. There are good matches that I would love to see away from Rousey, that is just how good the division is, and how talented the people are in it. |

There will eventually be female fighters as good as, and better than Ronda Rousey.
Especially as women's MMA is now growing and getting major exposure. MMA has always grown and more and more better fighters have come through, it's only a matter of time before another female comes out and is better than Rousey. Whether that happens in Rousey's career I don't know. It'd be a shame to see her come out of a retirement to fight the 'new big thing' and lose badly. |

Pettis vs Dos Anjos up next.

A Pettis win all day looks likely, but you never know. Pettis looked totally out of his depth. The only other person more out of their depth was Carla as she convincingly lost her title to the Pole, who looked light years ahead of her. |

I see Dillashaw has pulled out of his rematch with Barao at UFC 186 due to a rib injury.
No news if he will be replaced or if they'll move another fight to the main card. |

UFC Fight Night Cro Cop v Gonzaga is on PICK TV (152 Sky Channel) 11pm Saturday, Freeview Channel 11.
Wondered why I couldn't find it. Unless Cro Cop is really angry and out for vengeance for their first encounter I think Gonzaga will probably take it. |
