How many people are going to cancel it, because Aldo is not fighting? Also has barely broken 300,000 PPV if I'm remembering correctly. People seem to be more interested in McGregor.

Quite how much the UFC spent taking both fighters and all their entourage from country to country, and staying in one would think, only the best hotels, to promote a fight that is now not happening, plus all of the marketing (I think Dana has said this was one of if not the most expensive fights to promote), I don't know, but all of that is now down the drain, as the original fight is now not happening, hence it was a massive waste of cash and time (for everyone involved say the making of the adverts, posters, road tour etc).[/quote]
All their entourage might have been 2 people each! Again, it's only a "massive" waste of cash if the PPV numbers and the gate shows it. Which we won't know until after. Again granted it's not the optimal situation, but what all the promotion had done is promote one of the most charismatic people in the division, going into a fight with what many consider to be the #1 contender in the division. It's hardly UFC 151 is it?

“Yes it promoted Connor very well, but it was promotion for a fight that is not happening, he s now fighting someone else for an interim title, which is in no way shape or form, the same as facing the actual champion, for the actual belt.”
What you seem not to realise is that whilst the fight is not happening, the money spent by promoting the UFC most dominant champion, who has historically been under promoted, promoting one of the biggest break out stars and promoting probably the best, most exciting weight classes in the UFC to the casual is never going to be "utterly pointless" and a "huge waste of time and money". It will only be that if the UFC went bankrupt tomorrow.
It will not have been the most beneficial usage of time for a lot of people, but to claim that nothing of great value can be salvaged is just short sighted.
