They wouldn't push for that fight because it's clearly not something that's going to happen, weight difference among other obvious reasons. Wouldn't rule out the Cyborg fight happening at some stage.

I still think Holm and a Zingano rematch are the most interesting fights for Ronda currently in the UFC. Pena outside of those two if she can stay healthy and keep improving.
I am well aware of the 20 pound weight difference it is just a pity they couldn't somehow come to an arrangement of some sort for a catch weight contest.

Apparently Fedor signed for UFC today. http://combatpress.com/2015/09/fedor...-with-the-ufc/

Would have been glorious if it'd been 5 years ago.

A lot of people have been sleeping on tonight's card which is crazy. Fantastic card, been brilliant so far and expect the main card to be awesome.

Lineker/Rivera just had a legit "holy sh*t" moment. Seriously, go watch it if you missed it. Mental.

That Lineker is a little spitfire.

Nick Diaz suspended for five years for marijuana use prior to the Silva fight. They actually proposed a lifetime ban at one stage. Silva get's ONE year for PED use.

Yeah, it's madness. Absolute madness.

Nicks ban is due to it being his third offence it was Silva's first.

It's still ridiculous. Weed isn't a PED.

It's also ridiculous to smoke it when you've got a fight coming up and get caught three times. I don't think they differentiate between what you get busted for as long as it's on the banned list there all treated the same.

He's signed for Sakikabara's new promotion in Japan and is apparently getting $2.5 million for his New Year's Eve fight

It's pretty clear that's not the reason. There's a reason why almost every person in the business is calling this a ridiculous decision, because it's exactly that, a ridiculous decision.

Really enjoyed the Nelson/Barnett fight. Hopefully not another year on two year wait to see Barnett fight again.

I dispute that number. Firstly who's paying for the show?

There is no tv network in Japan ready to pay for a show like the old days and no network will touch Sakikabara after he was the one running Pride when the yakuza story got ran.

I would love MMA to get big in Japan again but it's reliant on the star power of professional wrestling in Japan.

Now Sakikabara could have foreign investors and he may be able to buy to time but how does he attract sponsors after the pride scandal. Not to mention he has powerful enemies in Japan and more importantly how does he build Japanese mainstream stars?

Not so easy now to go and get pro wrestling stars.

From Popsci -

"Cannabis is considered to be (a performance enhancement) because of its ability to decrease anxiety and fear, and potentially to improve some types of oxygenation and concentration."

I assume they were just fed up with Diaz lying to them about it, he had claimed in a previous meeting with them that he would never smoke it again, then later admitted he was lying and had started smoking again the moment he had got home from the meeting. Nobody believes he's ever going to stop.

The punishment is ridiculous of course.

Was anyone else underwhelmed by the Cormier and Gustaffson fight due to the latter running almost every single time he got it?

The prelims were a lot better this time.

Nicks Ban is because of the unprofessionalism of the NSAC. Nothing else.

1. 3 tests were taken post fight within hours. 2 were negative, and deemed so by WADA accredited labs. The positive test, was by a lab which has suffered several notable failures in procedures.
2. The ban is not consistent with the NSAC's own sanction regime.
3. The NSAC acted completely unprofessionally during the hearing - either treating Diaz with contempt or being overly familiar with the prosecutor.

So basically the NSAC used the flimsiest of "evidence" to effectively deprive a fighter during his prime/twilight years of making any living from fighting in the entirity united states - for apparently smoking a plant which is legalised or decriminalised in the various states of the US, and which Diaz has a license for and which it hasn't even been established that he had done anything wrong.

It stinks, it stinks to high heaven.

Come to neveda, you TRT takers, you HGH injectors, you steriod monkeys. Just make sure you're fully "repentant" in front of the committee and hope to good you're not ADHD sufferer like Diaz.

Nope. Smart fighting from gustafasson to avoid the clinch with Cormier, a guy whose hurt might bigger and stronger guys up against the fence.

Given that Diaz has a medical license for marijuana I don't think he would say "I'm not smoking it anymore".

As for the committee being fed up with " being lied to" - strange how they completely disregarded to two WADA accredited test s which sandwiched the 'positive' test by a non WADA accredited test.

Diaz ban is rumoured to be being reduced to 18 months & a big fine. Meaning he will fight again. And no doubt fail his next piss test for pot as well.

Off topic but Bellator just announced 49 year old Royce Gracie vs 52 year old Ken Shamrock. In 2016. Texas is the commission which approved it. Jesus wept.

Yessss! maybe now the scowling pantomime act that is Rousey will toddle off to the hammy entertainment world of WWE which she is clearly more suited to than the SPORT of MMA and the UFC.

Thank you Holly Holm.

Wow, that was an upset, probably bigger than when Spider lost for the first time as well!

That shakes things up big time in that division, I wonder if there will be a rematch?
