My local The Link shop has become an O2 shop - so we now have 2. I spoke to a friend who works at Currys and he said the DSG Group were selling The Link off.

Watch out for them disappearing in a town near you!

BTW I've just bought a phone from their website

Yeah apparently they're selling to O2.

Ours is being replaced by 3 as there is already an O2 shop.

O2 have always held shares in the link. The link was a joint venture between Cellnet and DSG. O2 owned 40% DSG owned 60%.

O2 took over the link early this year (was around end of june start of july time). Cost them around £30million.

O2 have already bought The Link over. Not all former link stores are being converted to o2 some are being sold off to other mobile networks like orange and as Antz mentioned 3. Other link stores are being shut down altogether.

I bought my first ever colour phone from 'The Link' on the Team Valley.

Place was the size of the garage and had about 15 sales advisors

I cant see my local The Link becoming an 02 shop as there is an 02 shop a few mins down the street from The Link. So I wonder what would replace The Link if there is an 02 shop with in 10mins walk of each other. We also got a Phones For U and Vodafone shop with in a 10min walk of each other in our town centre.

Our new O2 shop (prev. the Link) is next-door-but three to the old one, and the old one is still open.

All our phone shops in the town centre are in the shopping centre, a 2 minute walk between each.

Spotted this in our town centre yesterday.

The Link is being converted to an O2 store. There is already an O2 store nearby and it doesn't look like that is closing.

I bet CPW are happy; they are now the only mobile phone store in our town that offer multiple networks.

We have a Phones4U, O2 & Vodafone shops near our Link we used to have CPW & T-Mobile Fonehouse but they closed down I wonder if an Orange shop or T-Mobile shop is planned to replace it.

Apart from Voda, they are pulling out of CPW!

Well my local Currys is closing down now, wonder if that is down to the old Dixons being Currys Digital and they are cutting back.

Our branch of The link (in Eastleigh) closed yesterday and will open as o2 on Wednesday.
In case anyone is worried if you have a hardware issue with a phone bought at The Link you can take it to another dsg store such as Currys.digital. I bet the staff in currys will love that

we have a 02 shop right accross from the link and it has only been open just over a year, we have a t-mobile shop, vodafone, o2. We had an orange shop but it shut down and superdrug has a section in for 3, so dont know what will happen

My phone's insured with the Link - where will I take it if my local branch closes down? I doubt they'll convert it to an o2 shop, as there is one opposite it!!

the link will still be trading as dsgi still retain thelink.com your mobile phone insurance is safe as dsgi retain the link plan insurance. all you do is phone the number on your insurance document or the phone sales number from the link website. if you bought a normal landline phone then your local currys or currys.digital will test it and replace it if required.

You forgot to add 'Shite signal' & 'Bulky phone that you can't take out on a friday night because it's huge, you can't get in your pocket, it's got a massive '3' on it and people laugh at it'

Only when there is no 2G coverage, and only until the contract with o2 runs out.
