I honestly think that the Pet Shop Boys should write and/or produce Robbie Williams future songs. They are a great combination as No Regrets and the excellent new song She's Madonna show.

Any thoughts?

He's certainly not been as good without Guy Chambers, and Neil and Chris would be a good match for his style.

Robbie doesn't need help with his songs, especially from the mundane crap pet shop boys! I have never understood how they have gone on for so long!

I think they should concentrate on their own material. Their recent stuff is a return to form which I hope continues.

I do think they work well as a writing partnership but I love both as seperate acts as well - I definitely wouldn't want the 2 to blend into one, maybe just the odd collaboration every now and then or one album together or something. I think ultimately they should both carry on doing their own thing seperately as they are both in a really good place musically at the moment. Robbie particuarly is doing so well experimenting and collaborating with loads of different people at the moment making a really diverse combination of songs, I think that suits him.

I think you have it the wrong way round . Guy Chambers has never been any good since Robbie & him went their seperate ways. What has Guy been doing since, dont hear about him very often - do we??. So was he really the brains behind Robbie Williams - I dont think so .
Well done to Robbie on his new album.
Loving it.

Well, 'She's Madonna' is basically a Pet Shop Boys song with Robbie on vocals. I'm assuming the Robster also penned the lyrics seeing as I find it hard to believe that Neil Tennant would want to shag Madonna. It's a good song, and there are some other great moments on Robbie's new album, especially Lovelight, The 90s (I love this one, it's ace), Viva Life On Mars, The Actor, Never Touch That Switch and ********. That's basically half the album. There's only a couple of duds (Summertime and Burslem Normals should have been cut).

Neil Tennant is apparently producing Rufus Wainwright's new album...

They obviously have a mutual respect for each other's work and I agree that they work well together. As much as I love their collaborations, I wouldn't want Robbie to work solely with them. His new album proves that by working with a variety of writers/producers he is able to achieve so much more.

Check out Robbie singing Jealousy live with the Pet Shop Boys though, it's fantastic.

Ouch, a touch harsh on the Pet Shop Boys surely. They may be many things, but "mundane crap" is not one of them.

Sometimes a partnership is more than the sum of its parts, though.

Look at Lennon and McCartney - neither was fantastic on their own, but together they produced magical music.

Please note I am not in any way saying Chambers and Williams are in the same league as Lennon and McCartney - it's just an example!!

Though I love the "Madonna" song on Robbie's album (which is refreshingly different by the way), I think it would only work as an occasional collaboration. I think Robbie is enjoying a variety of sounds at the moment. As for Guy Chambers........whatever happened to him??

Since he stopped writing with Robbie, Guy Chambers has had Number 1 hits in the UK, Germany, Australia, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, Norway, Denmark and Ireland.

He has also had songs on albums by (amongst others) James Blunt (number one around the world including USA and UK), INXS, Busted, Bryan McFadden, Texas, Delta Goodrem, Jamie Cullum, Charlotte Church, Beverley Knight, Natasha Bedingfield, Andrea Bocelli...

Kind of ironic that Guy got a US number one (on James Blunt's album) AFTER his split with Robbie - something Robbie so obviously craved for many years.

So I doubt if Guy is too concerned about the "split"!
