I believe Chris Farlowe, who recorded it originally, wrote 'Handbags and Gladrags'.

My dad told me it was Mike Deboe from Manfred Mann (who also wrote Finger of Fudge) and I've been passing that bit of trivia around for years

Your dad is right - Michael D'Abo did write 'Handbags and Gladrags', though Chris Farlowe first had a hit with it. Don't know anything about Finger of Fudge.

Couldn't help thinking of "Chesney Hawkes - The one and only" there.

Imagine the Macdonald bros doing that one

Moving on.....I thought they all had to be songs from "American Songbook" which means that "Sailing", "I don't want to talk about it", and "Maggie May" etc, won't be included

I think Ben could do a great version of Handbags and Gladrags.

If the McDonald Brothers are allowed to do Sailing as it was originally recorded by the Sutherland Brothers they could definitely pull it off.

I don't think I could watch that It's one of Cat Stevens best compositions.

I think Nikkita could do it justice though.

Yes, I think Nikitta is probably the only one who could do it justice.

lol at Chesney Hawkes! Anyway I hope we don't have to endure "Sailing" because it's a well boring song.

Can't believe that Louis has given The MacDonald's "Sailing"! It's just getting ridiculous now. He may as well just pack their bags for them. These boys need a song that they can do something with vocally, not just stand there and sing. Poor guys.
