like it - he's not trying to oversing, just making sure he gets through it without fluffing. i can see this boy in the future in the pop world, no doubt about it... somehow puts me in mind of the likes of ColdPlay frontman and even Radiohead. NOT that he's ANYWHERE ner their levels yet, but i'm talking more about that certain quality in his voice

I thought it was great how he simply sung with a piano playing. Makes a nice change from the loud backing tracks that were on the X Factor last week.

he has an ability to hold you with his voice, no matter how quietly he's singing. he's gonna do great

Yes I think what Simon wanted was Raymond's image and confidence and Shaun's brilliant voice.

The boy done good.......So much more appeal than Ramond or Ashley, Shaun has no annoying habits, hairdo or arrogance to bluff the singing.

Its refreshing to see someone that is not over produced to the point of exploding out of the TV screen.

No contrived hairdo, wardrobe or OTT musical accompanyment, sometimes purety of voice is great to listen too

A sound, solid no frills performance, I think Simon has made a mistake here!

Exactly my thought. The interim stage on PI of acts singing with Piano really gave you an opportunity to hear vocal talent. Final shows brought in the performance element.

I don't see Shaun as a pop act. Would love him to go & get formal vocal training & pursue a traditional route.

He really does have a super personality and loads of potential.

In a way it might be the making of him to wait another year and then try again. If he had been put through this year the pressure might have completely destroyed what little confidence he had and that would have been a great shame.

He's certainly got a lot more going for him than the dire Ray!

Totally agree.

I was trying to analyse why I stopped to listen and watch - and couldn't really decide what it is that this lad has that makes him special. Yes, he does have a lovely quality to his voice - but he's not spectacular looking, he doesn't have a bouncy stage personality - but there is something hugely charismatic about him. Guess that's what they call the elusive X-Factor. Also loved Sharon's reaction and delight with him after performing.

Simon cocked up big time by rejecting him in favour of Ashley and Ray - both of whom are unappealing and annoying in varying degrees. Shaun has proved he he would have done Simon proud.

Are you sure you aren't letting your sympathy for this nice little lad cloud your judgement of his ability?

he was out of tune in many places, no strength in his voice, the timing was off on 2 or 3 occasions which meant the piano player had to adjust to get back on track.

Now that isn't to say it was terrible, he did ok, but it wasn't great, or good. It was ok in places, and poor in others.

I missed his performance.

Did he seem nervous?

How many people were out of tune on Saturday night's live show. He's no star but he has potential.

Exactly. They would have probably sounded even worse without the backing vocalists too.

I agree with you, it was a good performance for a young lad of his age and experience. I thought it was great that he had some coaching for his nerves, something that he probably wouldn't have had time for if he'd actually got through to the final shows. That will do him more good in the long run than the fierce competitiveness of the Live shows
every week.

i don't think Simon made a mistake sending him home - it's too early yet for him to be doing the live shows.. give him time. we've lots to come from this boy, guaranteed. look for him in 5 years time and see where he is then

I didn't enjoy his singing at all today, but I was just willing him to get through to the end of the song, and he did.

Shaun lives about 10 minutes from my house

It's only a tiny little village/town, never seen him though. I hope he does well. I just want to see ray out and have that smirk wiped off his face
