Apologies if this has been discussed to death when I haven't ben arround but I think that the judeges chosing who goes is totally the wrong way to do it. Each week statistically the most likely scenario is that someone from each group will be in the last two, which leaves only one neutral judge and although a jusdge can vote against their act it is unlikely so it is really down to the opinion of one person. I would prefer it to be the audience or if there was a panel of say six judges. It shoulsn't be down to one person who may be thinking about their feud with another judge, potential competiton for their acts or even, like Sharon with Steve personal animosity against a prticular act.

*steps down off the soap box and puts it away for a later date*

I don't think judges like Louis and SImon (Sharon's OK) shouild be allowed their say on what they have for breakfast, let alone on young people's futures! We're the ones who'll potentially be buying the records, so it should be our decision who stays in and who leaves the competition. The judges have far too much power IMO.

BTW I was worried this topic was going to announce an upcoming Judges' Choice theme night, there's only so many times I can hear Ben (the song), You Raise Me Up, Unchained Melody and Hero....

I have no problem with the judges voting an act off. It adds excitement and controversy to the show. In the past, the judges have got it right. Louis voting off Maria was the only exception, though it has been said that she did actually get the lowest number of votes. If an act is in the bottom two at such an early stage, they don't have the following to win. The judges do the job for a living, and are perfectly qualified to make such decisons, they make decisions on young peoples futures all the time!!

EDIT: I'm confused on your second point, the judges choose the songs every week, and have done since the start of X Factor.

Aah but Michele Mcm the winner and Mark who came second on Pop Idol Series 2 were both in the bottom 2 very early on in their comp - so opinion can change.

And Melissa O'Neill, the winner of Canadian Idol 3 - she was in the bottom for the first three weeks of the competition.

Ah. yes. I was getting XF mixed up with PI where there was a specific Judges' Choice theme week.

Im glad that the judges have some say otherwise it would have meant the end for Dionne and this would in no way have been fair to her given the quality of her performace last week.
