what i'm trying to get at hear is the obvious diversity that exists in how we view things...

for example, ice cream tastes like icecream, but some people love it - some loathe it, but it's what it is.

some people love kebabs - makes their mouths water thinking about one - others would rather die than eat a kebab

look at how Marmite fares - it tastes how it tastes but to some of us that taste is lovely, to others it's worse than the prospect of licking the toilet bowl

so... when it comes to voices, could this same phenomenom be true? with a voice like Ashleys, for example, there are people who can hear somthing there that they really like whilst others find it sets their teeth on edge and hate it. so what's going on folks? you tell me

Music is absolute.

Other people are just wrong.

I think you'll find this is why all our individual preferences for all things, is always referred to as a matter of taste.

Music is very personal. Its pointless arguing about who is 'best', because people hear different things, or at least intepret it differently.

I believe it is subjective, but, like food, what deserves more praise a carefully prepared three course meal or a pot noodle on toast? Some people may prefer the pot noodle, but can the quality be said to be exactly the same as the three course meal?

Like most things it's down to peoples own preferences. If they like a certain act they may be blind or should that be deaf to their imperfections.

Also people like me who are tone deaf may think someone is good whereas a musically trained person would spot the duff notes more. At the end of the day it's down to whether or not you enjoyed the performance which can be down to song choice as well as how it was performed.

But by comparison would you compare the Macdonald Brothers to Haggis. Both are an aquired taste and not very popular outside Scotland!

Well if music can be equated to ice cream, Ashley is definitely Tesco Value Ice cream compared to the Haagen Daaz of Ben!!
