I know he's very popular but why? Surely there's loads of people who can sing better and look better? What's it all about?

His Personallity and kindness and the time he has for his fans, and his charity work,

you can actually go to his mums house at certain times and he will be there to have a cup of tea with you.

That's very nice but it couldn't make you like his music, surely?

Watch the Father Ted episode where singer 'Eoin McLove' comes to Craggy Island.
Tells you all you need to know about the appeal of Mr O'Donnell.

I think his appeal is that every older woman would like a son like him, and he genuinely loves his fans.

Not convinced he's got much of a personality. I once watched him being interviewed and it was like watching paint dry. Hope he sings better than he speaks ... he was so monotone!

MY mum is 60 and thinks the sun shines out of his backside. I think you have to older to get him personally.

Quote:
“His Personallity”

What personality? He is the soppiest, most wishy-washy singer on the face of the earth.

Several years ago (1998 I think) I went to Ireland and at our hotel there was a group of people who had travelled from Kettering (or was it Kidderminster) to see him at his concert in Tipperary (yes it was a long way).

There were about 10,000 there with six portaloos! All crammed in together - a nightmare!

Then they travelled for miles to go to the "tea party" where some people queued for hours to see the man and all they got was one cup of tea and one dry biscuit. Never again, she said.

When we were on the coach travelling back to Dublin airport the driver played one of his CDs. The girl across the aisle from me said when it was finished, "Thank goodness that's over - I thought I might have killed myself if it had gone on any longer!" So dreary.

I am older - older than your mum!

I heard him on the radio once and women were ringing up, gushing all over him, but, to me, he also sounded as about as charismatic as a withered carrot. And his music? It's about as bland, surely, as it's possible to get. At what age does this affliction visit females and their is some kind of therapy, like HRT that can help with it?

And, are the devotees mainly Christians, out of interest?

Some people don't like him very much.

Like Bob Brolly who presents the Irish show on BBC WM and BBC Coventry & Warwickshire every Sunday.

He doesn't have very high opinions of Daniel.

I'm not sure if age has anything to do with it, I have a friend who's daughter is 10 years old, and she absolutely loves Daniel O Donnell, been to a few of his concerts as well my mum is a fan also and she said you'd be surprised at how many youngsters are at his concerts
