I'm starting this thread as a sort of self help for everyone with a R series samsung LCD Tv so feel free to add any hints and tips that you have come across..!
Please note most of these ideas will invalidate your warrenty..! Use at your own risk..!!
Problem:- Freeview completely stuck and can not use any of the digital functions:
Reason:- If you are in a low to medium signal area and try to tune in digital Tv the software can sometimes throw a fit and totally lockup..!!
Answer:- Access the service menu and do a system reset this then makes then Tv think its a new install and all software and hardware reboots..!!
Problem:- Light patches down the screen
Reason:- Heat !! What can happen is simply the screen is flexing if getting too hot thus distorting the LCD panel slightly, this might be due to the screws in the back being tighter on one side than the other and in hot weather the pastic case expands thus causing stesses on the panel..!
Answer:- Either slightly undo the back panel screws a quater turn or cool the room down..!! (or move to iceland!)
