Although not half as interesting, this would probably be fairer all round but I fear it would be unworkable.

I'm sure that Carol and Matthew would have scored higher both weeks had they not been on 1st and then 2nd...... obviously the judges have to keep something in reserve or else we get the situation we had on Saturday where Bruno had no option but to give a 10.

It could add to the anticipation however...... if competitors had no idea of what they needed to do to beat the opposition, the public would be on the edge of their seats waiting for the outcomes.

It was a good performance but a 10 is what Jill's jive was worth and Louisa's wasn't quite as good as that. I think Bruno does get rather carried away in the moment with his voting!

That's just Bruno though, isn't it? He's always the emotional one when it comes to marking - he gets carried away.

Hecky thump - they have enough trouble marking them against the dancers they are actually up against this series with remembering the dances and marks given from 2 series ago!

Maybe they ought to rank the dancers in place order rather than give them a point score - seeing as that's the overall effect in the end. That way they can say someone was better than someone else without implying they were perfect.

Yeah but then they'd have to wait to the end... I don't know if that would be fair especially in the beginning with so many couples...

?

Surely they can say who should be in what place in relation to who's danced so far, and just go on like that till everyone's danced (admittedly it won't kick in till at least two couples have performed)?

I did say that (either on this thread or somewhere else, can't remember now - it was yesterday! ).

Or even allow decimal points of marks - so that the judges can't back themselves into a marking corner and could give 9.3 or 9.5 or whatever. To me, a 10 should be perfection and something to strive for not just 'best on the night'.

Sorry for confusion.

I was trying to say rank each couple relatively with their predecessors straight after they performed, whereas I think you meant rank them all at the end. Was going to say the result would be the same but
come to think of it, those two approaches might well end up with different rankings, as you may have a different perspective on each when you've watched them all and may have forgotten some details about individual performances!

Good idea you have there about the points system!
