Maybe they are helping the judges to find the excuse that 'the viewers at home didn't see anything so our judgements are fair'

That's one way of dealing with the massive compliants about the judges, isn't it?

Yeah - they had some singer - can't remember his name - on ITT and he said that he had always disagreed with the judges UNTILL he went and watched it live and then he agreed with everything they said! He said you get a different view there then at home.

I would love to see what actually happening so I can make my own mind up then have to see through the eyes of the hyperactive cameraman!

Thought you might like to know that Alison Graham's column in this week's Radio Times (p. 35) says many of the things that we've all been complaining about.

A letter in response might well appear in a future RT but you need to be quick off the mark because of the Christmas pull-up.

So the judges who are supposed to be judging a television dance show are actually judging a stage dance show.
It seems your argument is that the judges are incapable of doing their jobs while on stage.
Perhaps the answer is to get them off the stage and only allow them to see/judge on the VT?

Some of The Camera work tonight was appalling! Was it my imagination or did the camera actually come close to colliding with Lilia at one point?

It really was the pits wasn't it?Complainig has done no good whatsoever.Whenever there is a Fleckel or a spin- the camera spins too.It is shaky and intrusive.
What are they thinking? At one point I had to look away - the combination of flashing lights/spinning camera and spotlights aimed at the camera was too much.

You cant believe they have a rehearsal.

I know - I mean if they said 'we don't have cameras until the last show and they're held by hyperactive 6 year olds' I would understand....

lol .
The Carol cam and the rehearsal camera work are so much better.
The Argentinian Tango was brilliant dancing - but I suddenly caught sight of 2 men with chairs!Didnt realise they were part of the choreography. And James & Ola neednt have bothered - we saw very little of their dance.
Pathetic that the camera cant take all that in.They manage at the Olympics!

There are lots of posts on other threads about the poor camera work.
Please add comments here.

Not that anyone seems to take notice.Though they do read them.

Yes I thought that to. At one point I'm sure she had to bend back (as if she was doing the Limbo) to avoid smaking into it.

it is inexcusable IMHO.
What is their reason for making a programme so difficult to watch?

I don't understand.
I've sent something like 5 complaints to the BBC and I got quite flattered when I thought the camerawork was getting better,........but no! That was not to last. They totally ignored all the complaints...and instead decided to make their point by running the camera INTO Lilia!!!!!

Sorry for the late response, I’ve only just noticed you replied.

I thought she nearly overbalanced in an attempt to avoid hitting it! The camera work is not only distracting, frustrating and at times ridiculous it’s also becoming dangerous now. Do we have to have an accident before the BBC will actually listen to our suggestions/ complaints?

What can we do???? Its becoming ridiculous!!!!

I mean maybe they'll just knock out one of the celeb's/pros on the final!

If they break Mark's leg or just push Emma down the stairs maybe finally they'll stop this shoddy camera work - but should it have to come to that??????????????????????

Can we send these comments to the BBC somehow?

Think the problem with camera shots is because the directors all want to move on and become film directors. So see television as a way to be noticed by the film industry. Probabably take tapes of their work to people to show how clever they are.

What they need to do is go back and watch Come dancing where the directors were more interested in showing the dancers rather than making a name for themselves.

I think it DID hit her - Matt asked (as they were waiting for the judges' comments) "did you hit the camera?". She did a little gesture, couldn't see if it was a nod or head shake

Yeah I though so too - it definatly looked like it did. I thought it had just swept in too close and she'd lost her balance but then Bruno is pointing at it in the background!

It's ridiculous that they never mention the bad camera work in the judging- it is a hazard.

Perhaps they think we dont notice!and the shadows of the cameramen...and them scuttling like rabbits in the background....we are not entirely stupid!

They also frequently cut to a camera which has literally just got into position and there is a slight jostle as the camera man attempts to focus etc. It would be hilarious if it wasn’t so annoying! Time was the BBC stood for straight forward quality instead of flashy, OTT show(off)manship!
