Thanks Sarah- I bet it doesn't (get asked) this thread is being steadfastly ignored. There are comments on other threads too about the camera.

I agree with the terrible camera work.If we are to be able to understand the judges reasoning we must be able to see all of the dancers all of the time.....we hardly ever see the footwork!!! come on beeb.....get your act together

lol

I wonder if several of us emailed the same or a similar question? What do you think??

I'd be happy to ask the same question... maybe if enough people ask....

Yes- why not?

I liked your complaint ,it was very well worded I thought.
I think they are getting shirty at the Beeb- Austen had a very terse reply to his/her complaint.Mine was longer but a bit random,as though they hadnt really read it.

So what shall we ask?Mind you -I have already asked Philip one question..you are probably only allowed one?

Thanks

I was thinking of sending basically the same question as you did - about whether he had to cope with the same camerawork we do when he's trying to give a technical commentary.

Oh right!Good idea!

PS Havent had any acknowledgment of the question at all.

I guess they probably don't bother - would seem sensible to send an automated reply though.

OK, I'll send a similar question - won't copy the wording exactly, would look a bit suspect

They might think it's a campaign!

Hehehe

I put something like "How do you cope with the camera angles when doing a technical commentary, or do you get a better view?"

So sort of the same question but from a different angle.

Here's hoping that maybe others will ask similar things and they will feel obliged to ask!!

That sounds very tactful..and you might sneak up on them unaware.

Have just returned from a break away and - would appreciate a summary (or directions to the relevant posts) about the best advice for responding to the BBC.

Also - forgive me if it's already been aired in my absence - is it only me who gets annoyed by the overhead shots?

Great if it was synchronised swimming but here???

I have been complaining to friends and family about SCD's amateurish camera work since series one.
I also posted here my concerns many moons ago.

Obviously not the cameraman's fault but the show producers who seems very misguided as to what viewers of a DANCING competition need to focus on to make sense of each performance.

But thats the price you pay for a BBC who puts ratings above quality.

Here's the Points of View pageov@bbc.co.uk, and also go to the SCD page - there 's a Contact & complaints link.
if you read back you'll see some of the replies we've had so far.

Sabotage! How did that get in there?

It should be pov@bbc.co.uk

The next step may be a petition to Michael Grade.

Guys! I think whats happening in this forum discussion is fantastic! We must not rest! I think we need to start thinking about what our next plan of action is and organise it.

This is my thoughts -

Maybe if we get together a list of places to complain to - POV, BBC, ANY OTHERS? and literally the evening after Sat (if its as bad as usual) ALL OF US WRITE TO THEM! If they get a load straight after the programme it might have more leavage then a drip drip effect (which I think is important too to keep the message alive!

What do people think??

Yes ok I'm happy to do that....along the lines of 'why oh why oh why?'
or 'Disgusted?'

When I left my feedback it asked for a specific programme rather than the series. I mean, I left it for last Saturday's episode of Strictly. I was just generally complaining about the camerawork though, I didn't make any comments specifically relating to that week.

So... this week, assuming the camerawork is still bad, I'm going to leave more feedback for next Saturday's show. This time I'm going to point out specific instances. Maybe lots of them, otherwise they will trundle out the line of "it's live TV, these things happen occasionally".

I was quite specific in the email that I sent. I think it can only help.

I totally agree with you on this. I often find myself madly scanning the TV screen to try and work out where the dancer/singer has actually gone.

With SCD we need to see them dancing, the whole of them, Keep the camera still and stop flashing around please.

(Same for X-factor for that matter)

Good idea Katie_p. I'll definitely do that if there are any swirly goings on.

I also sent a question for Philip Jackson (expert commentary) as another poster suggested, asking about the footage he sees for his expert commentary and whether it is of better quality than what we see.

Let's get them from all angles and see if we can make a difference!

Oh good! I'll be very very interested to see if one of our questions about this comes up in the interview.
