U2 & Green Day - The Saints Are Coming

Has anyone else heard this yet? I don't listen to radio any more so I don't know what sort of airplay it's been given. Anyway, I love it, it's one of of my favourite collaborations. U2 always know how to pull a gem out of the bag. Hope it sells well.

Nope haven't heard it. To be honest I think Bono has rattled a few people of late. Certainly fans from many years ago (me included) are becoming depressed and quite frankly, fed up with his constant twittering about saving the world and other stuff he is involved in. At the beginning of it all I thought he was a good egg, but nowadays it just grates. He is has turned in to a patronising little ****. Still, it doesn't stop me from listening nostalgically to "The Joshua Tree" now and then and reminiscing about how wonderful they used to be before Bono's ego took over. Larry was especially lovely.

Oh golly this is the first time I have used a banned word on Digital Spy and they bleeped it out! Since I have never been so bothered by something enough before to use such a word, then Bono wins the prize for annoying JanieB the most this week! Sorry Pheasant.Pluck!

Ha ha! I know what you mean, because whenever I tell anyone U2 are my favourite band, I always get "Oh I ***ing hate Bono." To be fair, I quite admire him. He always comes across as very honest about his charitable status and he's very self aware about what people think about all the political stuff he's involved in. If that makes sense. Anyway, I don't think there's a single U2 album I dislike, a single song I dislike in fact. Which is why I like this new one. Give it a listen, and try not to take the man and his ego into consideration when you do.

I hate Bono SO much. He acts like he's the second coming of Jesus but then he does backflips to avoid paying taxes in Ireland. He even hires a special accountant, to work out ways to avoid paying Irish taxes.

He and U2 have also moved their business out of Ireland, to avoid paying tax on royalties.

He makes me effing sick.

U2 didn't move out of Ireland, U2 Ltd did. If any other business was in danger of a huge rise in taxes, they would have done exactly the same thing.

I think you'll find the members of U2 have not moved home.

What really annoys me is when people criticise celebrities for talking about helping Africa, accusing them of "not giving money themselves". Just because these people may be rich, doesn't mean they don't donate to charity! In fact, it's more likely that they would, having more money to spare.

If Bono makes you sick then I pity you and your overly sensitive gullet.

As for the song, yeah I like it.

Reminds me of the Bono joke recently aired on Popbitch. U2 are doing a concert and after their first song, Bono steps up to the mike and asks for silence. He looks down at his hands and says: "every time I do this, a child in Africa dies" he says, to which a member of the audience shouts "Well stop bloody clapping then!"

No, I'm not.
Love that joke btw.

Whats the difference between Bono and Jesus?

Jesus doesn't think he's Bono.

For anyone interested, if you go to U2.com, a little window pops up and you can hear the full studio version of the song.
