EE- Laura's change from beginning
willfull
03-01-2003
When she first arrived in EE, she was so sweet and quiet and then suddenly she's getting very drunk, sleeping with another man, making wild accusations against Janine, throwing oil(or whatever it was) in Janine's face. I personally don't feel a huge amount of sympathy for her now. I wonder if Joanne will change too?

Yes, it's all a bit bizarre. When she first appeared I felt really sorry for her, because she obviously loved Ian and I was glad when they got together. But what happened? The minute they got the chip shop she turned into the wife from hell - giving him pocket money, belittling him at every opportunity, totally emasculating him. No wonder he shagged Janine.

I have no sympathy for her either - although she and Ian ARE well suited! He's just the same - whining and crying when he's down but happily kicking people in the teeth when he's on the way up.

If you ask me Joanne is a bit creepy ... what was all that business about her going to church? Obviously lying. It's the way she creeps about spying on Phil ... has she got a thing about him? There's definitely going to be some sort of storyline around her in the future - will she run off with Louise do you think?

I thought the thing about going to church was either
a) she was going to see ricky
b) she was actually going to church to confess to drinking lots the night before
probably a)

Ricky? I didn't watch all of them over christmas but didn't Ricky and Natalie get it together? Has Joanne been up to naughties too? We didn't actually see where she went instead of church, did we?

They did but Joanne was trying to get with ricky as well, we didn't but we'll probably find out soon if it was any importance.

Aha! Interesting ..... But there is definitely something creepy about her.

If you missed it, when Joanne was the worse for drink, and falling about all over Ricky, she admitted she fancied Phil, that she had "dirty thoughts" about him. She then said to Ricky "I have dirty thoughts now too", at which point Ricky made a sharp exit! Presumbly she then went to confess her sins.

Thanks, but .... Oh my God! She's creepy AND totally lacking in taste!? I thought she was scared ****less of Phil. Sorry, but the programme has just lost all credibility for me - why ARE all these women chasing after Phil (Henry VIII) Mitchell?

Maybe in preparation for a Phil/Kate/Joanne triangle??

I know what you mean, (yuck) but there are many, many women out there who like a "bit of rough", treat `em mean, keep `em keen-type blokes. They find it extremely exciting, and a challenge I guess to try and change the bloke. I can understand this to a certain extent, but only if the bloke is reasonably attractive (like Den was or even Grant was half reasonable)

And I forgot Steve Owen, even I could have forgiven him his mean streak!!

Looking forward to seeing how this storyline develops
No doubt will be an explosive one!

Phil could do with a bit of livening up!

I bet there will be some Bunny Boiling going on! (AKA Fatal Attraction!)

totally agree with you smokefreegirl.....joanne is creepy....and she is soooooo not the girl for phil...but then again i can see her playing the "stalker" role ya know the obsessed babysitter....she already has a soft spot for louise so i can see her setting her sights on phil

A lot of characters change in soaps.

They usually enter as a baddie and then soften up and become Mr/Mrs Nice.

However Joanne entered as a quiet girl so she'll probably transform into a psycho thus making Phil more attracted to her

the result > a match made in heaven, phil and joanne tie the knot!

i don't know...maybe it's me but i totally cannot see phil with joanne.....i mean he called her mary poppins so he already sees her as weak...and the last thing phil needs in his life is a weak woman

She reminds me of an irish girl, possibly a nanny who was in Coronation Street some years ago and caused a few problems.
I can't think of her name

PS Did you see ALTER EGO. If he lost the little beard, 'Beppe@ would have lookwd just like 'Phil'

I know what you mean - but for me the difference is that Steve Owen and Dirty Den could be charming when they put their minds to it, so you COULD imagine that they were decent deep down. But Phil is just neanderthal. I can't imagine sitting across a dinner table from him - what on earth would he talk about?

You're dead right - the sort of timid woman who would just irritate the pants off Phil (he likes them feisty I think). But also the sort who would turn into an obsessive stalker. I can see her running off with Louise and holding her ransome or something like that.

I can vaguely remember something like that - she was a babysitter wasn't she? I wish I could remember the details.

I'm sure her name was Niamh, and she was played by a Cusack (not Niamh Cusack, one of her sisters), she stalked Martin.

Carmel her name was, she was convinced she was having an affair with Martin and caused loads of trouble between him and Gail.

Agh you're right Carmel was her name, where did I get Niamh from? Was that her real name and she wasn't a Cusack? My brain is clearly connecting the wrong dots, apologies.

She was definately one of the Cusacks in real life so presumably you got the Niamh from there.

It was Catherine Cusack
