A recent photo of Morrissey

I always realised he was pretentious and full of his own importance (aided no doubt by the regular NME arselicking he receives), but surely this is way beyond your usual pop star ego?

He must literally think he walks on water!
Anyone else think he needs a massive reality check, and soon?

Avert your eyes! Morrissey commeth this way!

Rumor has it that isn't the only thing Morrissey has had up his own arse.

He probably is, although he may well just be a chancer, seeing what he could get away with. I'd do it all the time; anyone caught turning their palms towards the sun would hang by the ankles for 44 minutes. If anyone took more than 20 breaths per minute in my vicinity they'd be killed for stealing my oxygen.

It's the perks of being famous that attract me.

In other news, the pope is catholic....

Morrissey has always been a bit of a tw*t but he's produced some great music so people, like me, will forgive him.

The Dears on the other hand are a little bit shit....although you have to feel a tad sorry for the lead singer. If you've heard them he obviously idolises Morrissey.

Haven't heard The Dears before, though I think I might have heard of them.

As you say, he is a bit of a **** but it just seems a shame when they do seem to idolise him.
It must be really crushing, especially after being selected to support him.

I don't like Morrissey's music so to me he doesn't seem to have any redeeming features.

I don't think he's like that all the time, I'm sure I've read stories about him getting on well with other artists but he's well known for being a grumpy b*stard. Although I love The Smiths and some of Morrissey's solo stuff, I'm not sure I'd actually want to meet the bloke! .

That just about sums his career up IMO. His best days are years behind him. And he is an arrogant ****, no question. Plus his tour STILL hasn't sold out. With so many ebay touts these days, it really is only the tours by artists who have over estimated their popularity who's tours don't sell out. Serves him right IMHO.

I saw his interview at V back in the summer and he was talking the biggest load of hooey that i'd heard in a long long time.

He really needs to come back down to earth before he ends up as some Howard Hughes / Tom Cruise type loon who every one despises.

Good point there. Never thought of that.

I always just thought "Oh well, they must not be that popular" but it's actually worse than that if they clearly assume huge droves of people will come flocking to see them, no matter what they do.

Say what you like about him, he has more talent, fame and fortune than any of you could ever dream of. Sour grapes.

So before you can have anything negative to say about a person, you must first outdo them in their field of expertise?

I thought it was well known he has an extreme social phobia and is only truly comfortable on stage so why anyone expects him to stop and chat completely baffles me

Extreme social phobia?? Nice one, I may use that one the next time Mrs SGE wants a conversation.

This is a good place to start if you wish to understand social phobia it is a recognised condition not an excuse.

He's a **** no doubt but who cares, his music speak volumes. Most high profile bands are dicks these days, wonder where they all get their inspiration from? Oasis/Kasabian/AMonkeys/etc etc....

What Smiths and Mos stuff do you like out of interest?

Is that what Morrissey's been sucking all these years to make him look so miserable all the time?

I think some people seem to forget that perhaps the reason the tour isn't sold out yet is because the venues he is playing aren't the best and it may be putting the casual fan off going. I'm off to the Glasgow SECC gig, but grudgingly so as the SECC is a terrible venue. If he was to play two or three nights at a smaller venue in the city, it would most certainly be sold out now. And besides - selling out his 30 date UK tour in a matter of hours earlier this year? Number one album and 3 top twenty singles? Still a very popular artist? I think so

Morrissey is booked into those gigs because the promoters think they will make money. It's not a case of the artist just on a whim booking large venues themselves because they have big egos. The venue has to want them there and make the offer.

Anyone who is a fan of Moz will know he has a brilliant sense of humour and those that think he's miserable will never get the irony or humour of him, no matter what. I'm actually sorry for people who are not fans.

Don't feel sorry for me mate.
I know I'm not missing anything.

Still wishing death on a frail 81 year old woman, even after she has suffered several strokes doesn't really sound like a sense of humour I wish to share with him.

So what? I wish Graham Norton dead every time I see him. Doesn't mean I don't have a sense of humour.
