I’m torn over whose retarded idea it was to have a 10-year-old leather-boy take part in the action. And let’s not forget the laughable Arlene Phillips choreography. Was this woman the single worst choreographer in the history of the musical? Sigh, it’s an argument that rages between all my gay friends to this day.

Arlene Phillips is definitely the most out-spoken of the judges with comments like “you couldn’t court a cat” and “that was about as hot as a frozen pizza” or “you dance as if your back is made out of a concrete car park”, but also “oh, tonight you were the horney hound” and “I choose bubbly bouncy beautiful Ben”. I love it when she gets carried away. It’s not as if she’s exactly hot but somehow the image of a severe judge slagging of a poofy dancer, telling him he needs to become more manly, is very exciting.

I think she lost all sense of professionalism when she said "I lose all perspective when I see you dance" to Mark. It was a far worse comment than Craig saying "you know how I feel about you" to Emma. A judge can feel someone is a good dancer, but to lose perspective and then admit to it is silly. I hope she was joking.

I think her comments are hilarious, but glad I'm not one of the boys she's drooling over!
I think the most respect I have for her though comes from her choreography of 'Every Sperm is Sacred' from Monty Python's the Meaning of Life - a classic work that took the piss out of 'Oliver!' brilliantly.
It's only this that keeps me from wanting to slap her when she's too mean.

I didn't find Craig's comment out-of-place at all now that I know he was referring to how he feels about her dancing ability and attitude, and not on anything personal. He explained this on some breakfast show, and said he wanted to elaborate on the actual show but wasn't allowed the time.

Anyway, Arlene may have been joking but she does seem to have a bias towards young men (hence this thread!) and that's unprofessional.

'Brazen' doesn't not even begin to describe Arlene! The male contestants should be keeping their doors bolted, that's for sure.
