Give Jan a break!

I think Jan is doing a great job! She's trying so hard and I think we have to keep her in. If she lasts i think she could bloom! Who is with me here?

There is nothing wrong with Jan, she is blooming lovely.

Well let's be honest she is not the most gifted celebrity this year, in frankly is an excelent crop of amateurs.

SO MAYBE everyone is being a little cruel and IMHO, she is far better than a much younger and supposedly fitter female celeb, Georgina.

She could get better and given the prevailing wind and a bit of luck she could beat the likes of Claire and Brendan, that frankly despite all the stuff and nonsense, there is not really much going for them, IMHO.

I think if she gets to do the foxtrot it will suit her better this week. The Paso Doble will depend on Anton's choreography... if she can act the part then it could be good but I don't have high hopes for any of the Latin dances. Anyone know which dance they are doing this week?

I think Jan is a lovely person and very funny. I know for sure she'll do much better this week with the foxtrot. She and Anton will be gorgeous!

(She is doing the foxtrot, isn't she? I thougt the girls were doing the foxtrot and the guys the paso?)

Females - foxtrot, Males - Paso

Thank you allyfree!

I'm sure Jan will do a great job then. Anton is a Ballroom Master so as long as she keeps her posture, relaxes her shoulders and smiles she'll do great!

Sorry can't agree with you on that one, no matter which way the wind is blowing I can't see them lasting as long as Claire and Brendan, (could be wishful thinking) but the Samba is looming .

I agree. Claire & Brendan are in a different league to Jan & Anton. They have bags more potential... I will be curious to see if Brendan can manage to create a magical foxtrot with Claire as it shouldn't be a "down and dirty" dance... he is a wonderful foxtrot dancer... hmm.. wonderful dancer fullstop... so looking forward to his & Claire's version. The only thing letting Claire & BRendan down will be the audience votes from the audience who only pick up on the 'bad boy/girl' theme and don't want to vote because they are 'bad'. I've met a lot of people who have said that and that worries me... ITT should show more clips of Brendan & Natasha and remind people how great they were in Series 1 and how lovely he was then (not to say he's not lovely now... just the image he is being portrayed as).

I agree. She looked really nice on Saturday - that is the only compliment I can give her though. The rest of the dance was a carcrash, did she ever learn it because neither of them looked like they knew what they were doing!

I like Jan, but she is a dreadful dancer...even Anton can't bring out the best in her - unless that is her best?

I think we'll see her best on Saturday..... if Anton can't get a decent foxtrot out of her, no-one can !!!

Well in her first dance she fell on her bum and in her second she staggered about, so the signs are not good, are they?
As Anton is strong on foxtrot there's a fair chance she'll do better this week (could she do worse?), but even if they're brilliant this time, I'd find it rather hard to get behind them now as I think they've been kept in over better couples for 'personality' reasons.

I thought her quickstep was ok. Based on Ian's comments on ITT last night, I thought she tried her absolute best to deal with the major hiccup of finishing on the "mermaid" pose.

The jive - I thought the training clips showed quite good jive kicks. I think she just choked on the night, mind went a completely blank and forgot the routine. Anton had to just help Jan as best he could.

Unfortunately, "nerves means I can't perform" is a storyline that has already been taken. So its going to get harder and harder for her each week to remain the "I'm a comedienne, isn't this funny......" 'cos she's much more intelligent than that. (First female President of the Cambridge Footlights, I think).

I watch because
a.I quite like competitive reality programmes, where a celebrity learns a skill (SCD is my favourite of this type of programme by miles).
b. I love watching SCD with my daughters with us all getting so involved.
c. I enjoy talking "at the water cooler" with friends and colleague about SCD.
d. of this forum ------ well the nice bits anyway.
e. I love watching ballroom/latin dancing, all the glitz and glamour, personalities and fun.
f. But most of all, I watch to be entertained.

The only think that spoils SCD (for me) is when I feel embarrassed.

So far Jan and Anton are on the right side of the last one and they still entertain me. So I'm sending them hugs and kisses (take whatever it was the Meatloaf was talking about) and prove all the doubters wrong.

You are so right, and in past series I had no preception of what a nice guy Brendan really is, I bought the bad boy tag until I saw him in LI. Perhaps Antons Army should persuade Anton to do something like that, then I may be able to understand the adoration factor. I just hope the dancing wins this week.

This Saturday will see Jan flourish, I'm sure. A foxtrot in Anton's arms - she can't fail!

I do agree that now Jan has got the Jive 'out of the way' she will perform and progress a lot better now.

And of course with Anton to help she will undoubtedly blossom.

I'm sorry - but it was the whole Brendan/Nasasha thing which killed any feeling I may have had for him.
I know that people say it was romatic and passionate - it just doesn't sit very easy with me when the romance and passion is happening in the same room - as it where - as his finacee.
Sorry.

I hope she does blossom, she should look to Lesley Garratt for inspiration, and just let go and try and enjoy herself. She seems so tense poor woman.

I can see where you are coming from, but that was a long time ago and all the people involed seem to have moved on, maybe we should too.

I have to disagree I'm sorry! I looked back on Georgina's and Jan's jive last night, now don't get me wrong Georgina is poor but she danced the majority of her steps, Jan on the other hand was mouthing them and then mouthing to Anton and missing most of her steps. I really enjoy Anton's personality and dancing but I do think Jan and Anton should have gone, going on the way they danced Saturday night.

Really like Anton and Jan seems like a nice lady but they were clearly the worst on saturday night. Georgina looked like a dancer next to her.

Georgina DID get her steps in... you're quite right. She didnt deliver them really well but she did do the steps. She certainly mastered them whereas Jan went to pieces. Jive is such an awful dance to do so early in the series for the ladies. I'm glad they get foxtrot this week.

EDit: Not that foxtrot is easy... but at least they're with their partner and not out there on their own.

Oh totally - it's just that I can't warm to him after that, that's all.
