Connecting kit
Hi All
A friend of mine has recently connected her old Nokia digital box to her hi-fi and all worked great. However on moving house the right combination of connections cannot be found. There is a TV with 2 scarts. DVD ,VCR,Nokia box and HI fi. All standard input/outputs. Sound could not be got out of the digital/HI Fi part. On rearranging everything the the sound was sorted but the problem is that the DVD pictures are now in black and white. What is the reason for this? HELP TIA |

The dvd wants to be in the RGB scart connector at the back of the tv if the dvd is outputting RGB. The scart plug usually has a little square with 3 dots next to it to indicate it is the RGB scart, usually AV1.
The other thing you can do is to check the scart connectors are all okay and have not been damaged. How is everything connected? |

Some cheaper scart cables only work one way round, although one end is usually marked 'TV' or 'DVD' MIght be worth checking anyway.

I had loads of trouble getting my PS2 to display in colour rather than black and white.
My TV has four SCART inputs. One is RGB, S-Video, and Composite all mixed in. You have to use the TV remote to select which one from the SCART socket. I was viewing S-Video, and the PS2 cable is Composite, so I was getting a B/W picture. Once I selected (1 hour later )Composite everything was fine.
