I can live with the extra 43 grams given the quality of the player.
Also, the Archos needs extra bits added on to connect it up to a TV ... mine doesn't, the leads just plug straight in the side. Given it's a PMP, thats a featurte I use quite a lot.
Oh .... and I may have the weight on the Av500 wrong. According to Amazon (US ... UK doesn't sell the A2 so I didn't use it for comparison), the AV500 is actually 315 grams ... but I think that may be the 100gb version. If you want to go up to the AV700, that clocks in at 590 grams!
300 grams is about par for the course. There are slightly lighter players, there are slightly (or quite a bit in the case of the AV700) heavier players.
But .... you're straying from the topic.
That Thomson player is good value for money. Simple as that.
