How is she so well-preserved?

Maybe this could be a good Who Wants to Be a Millionaire starter question:

Rank the SCD judges in age (from oldest to youngest). My guess would be:

Len
Arlene
Bruno
Craig

Botox and a healthy diet! I'll try and dig out the interview where she said that!

This is from Wikipedia

Len Goodman (born 26 February 1950) - 56! I thought he was older for some reason...
Arlene Phillips OBE (born 1952 in Manchester, Lancashire, England) - 54!
Craig Revel Horwood (born 1967) - 39!

The page for Bruno does not reveal when he was born.

IMDB says Arlene was born in 1944...

ARLENE PHILLIPS: I HOPE I'M STILL DOING THE SPLITS AT 80!

HOW TV DANCE QUEEN OF MEAN HAS ROLLED BACK THE YEARS AND GOT IN GREAT SHAPE AT 62 THANKS TO A NEW WAY OF EATING (AND A LITTLE BOTOX)
By Victoria Kennedy
SHE'S been dubbed the Queen of Mean after ripping people to shreds with her damning comments as a judge on BBC reality shows Strictly Come Dancing and Strictly Dance Fever.

But in the flesh Arlene Phillips is a softie as full of self-doubt as the next woman - especially when it comes to her looks.

The striking 62-year-old confides she worries she resembles an "old hag" on TV and confessers she has used Botox to try and make her look younger.

But in fact, Arlene has good reason to be happy ith the way she looks at the moment. The woman who shot to fame as the choreographer of sexy dance troupe Hot Gossip has lost a stone and a half since January and whittled herself down to a slim 8st 7lbs. It's worked wonders for her confidence.

"It got to the point where I hated my bum and my tummy," says Arlene in her no-nonsense voice. "I was so self-conscious, because at 5ft 3ins I'm quite short and I always thought: 'I'm going to look as wide as I am high.' I do identify with women who put on weight easily. I know when I eat you'll see it on my body.

"It's been hard, but I feel much better. I have more energy and I feel better about myself."

Arlene has been trying to shift the pounds for decades. After years of yo-yoing in her 20s, her weight ballooned after she unexpectedly became pregnant at 48 with her second daughter Abi, now 15. She struggled to get back in shape.

"I was well over 10st and a good size 14-16 after I gave birth to Abi and I just couldn't lose the extra weight," she explains. "I lost the will to diet. I tried to exercise but it wasn't easy any more. I felt lethargic. It got to the point where I decided just to accept the weight and physique I was. But in my heart I hated it.

"Then last Christmas I'd just finished filming Strictly Come Dancing and we went on a family trip to the countryside. I ate everything I wanted - a lot. When I came back to London in January I realised I had to change the way I ate. This time I wanted to do it."

SHE put together her own eating and exercise plan - cutting out calorie-laden foods such as cheese and chocolate and going swimming every day. Six months on, she is a svelte size 12.

"I can actually feel my hip bones again," she laughs. "My stomach is firmer and I've still got a bum, but it's now smaller. It makes it worthwhile when you start to see the results.

"I've taught myself to eat differently. I used to live on cheese and bread but I've banned them now. I never thought I could live without them, but it's possible. Instead I always carry fruit with me so that I can eat it throughout the day. I don't have chocolate, biscuits, crisps or Coca-Cola in the house. Otherwise it'd be a temptation."

It's hard to imagine Arlene ever worrying about what people think of her. As a TV dancing judge she has earned a reputation as the female Simon Cowell for her acid-tongued put-downs.

She told a contestant: 'You are about as hot as a frozen pizza' and blasted TV presenter Fiona Phillips on Strictly Come Dancing, saying: "She hasn't got one naturally moving bone in her body."

But behind her tough veneer Arlene is nervous about criticism being dished back at her.

"There's a hell of a lot of pressure on TV to stay young and perfect, and it's really hard," she says. "I think if I keep doing TV I will feel pressured to have plastic surgery. I don't feel any pressure from my partner or my children, but I do feel like people don't want to see an old hag looking back at them on TV."

That's why she tried Botox two years ago to get rid of the lines running from her nose to her mouth.

"I hate needles and I was so terrified I burst into tears," she admits. "When I came out, my face felt stiff and swollen and I remember calling my partner Angus, crying: 'I can't see, I can't drive home. What have I done?' I couldn't tell my daughter I'd done it. Abi doesn't like the thought of me having anything done. She likes me as I am. But soon the swelling went down and the results were amazing.

"I will probably have it again if I do another series of Strictly Come Dancing. By October I'm definitely going to want something. I want to be perfect again."

But she has another, more natural way of staying young: having a daughter later in life. She was in shock when she found she was pregnant with Abi from her relationship with Angus Ion, 52, her partner of 19 years, who runs her company.

Arlene, who also has a 26-year-old daughter, Alana, from a previous relationship, recalls: "My greatest fear was that I might not get to see my child grow up and have children.

BUT then I realised I lost my own mum when I was 15, so there is never any guarantee that you will get to see your children row up.

"I was very conscious of being an older mum, though. I felt it when I was taking her to nursery school and I was lder than all the other mums there. Now that she's a teenager it's easier. The gap between mums being 40 and me in my 60s is less difficult than when they were in their 20s and I in my 40s.

"I found it odd when I heard about the woman who is about to become the oldest mum in Britain at 63. Why would you want to be a mum at that age? I felt almost like a grandma when I had Abi. I do think having a daughter at 48 has kept me younger, though. I didn't want to think I looked old to all her friends' mums."

Since her fame in the 80s with the dance troupe Hot Gossip she has worked as a choreographer for such heavyweight stars as Queen, Robbie Williams and Diana Ross. But it's her stints on the BBC dancing contests that have propelled her back into the limelight.

"It's great to see so many people enjoy dance," she says. So is she really as mean as everyone thinks? "As far as dance is concerned I waste no time telling people what I think," she says sternly. "But underneath I'm just a lovely, warm mother. Those who know me know I'm a big softie."

With her slim new shape and sexy cleavage, it's easy to see why she's managed to snag a man 10 years her junior. She also has a cheeky sense of humour - and it seems she and Strictly Dance Fever host Graham Norton have fun behind the scenes. "We had a big BBC dinner after the last series and people were asking me if I could do the splits," Arlene giggles. "Graham was egging me on to do it and before I knew it I was in this grand hall, doing the splits. I can still do them. I hope I'm still doing them when I'm 80."

I feel like people don't want to see an old hag looking back at them on TV

Arlene's top five tips to beat ageing

1 EAT LOTS OF FRUIT. I make sure I always carry fruit with me. It's packed with antioxidants, which mop up the free radicals in our bodies and fight the ageing process.

2 DANCE AROUND YOUR LIVING ROOM Even if you only do it for 10 minutes a day with the radio on, it's a great form of exercise and it also lifts your mood, so you feel good inside and out.

3 TAKE OFF MAKE-UP One thing I think has kept my skin young for so many years is that I've always removed my make-up before going to bed. I use Dermalogica products to cleanse my skin, so it looks fresh.

4 STRETCH I do simple stretching exercises every morning to stay flexible.

5 TRY ARGAN OIL I drizzle this (from supermarkets for around £5) on my salad. It's from Morocco and is rich in anti-ageing properties.

Her weight loss plan

WHAT SHE EATS:

Breakfast: Two tangerines, a large bunch of grapes and natural yoghurt with honey. An espresso and pomegranate juice.

Mid-morning snack Slice of chicken breast or a plain oatcake.

Lunch Salad with cherry tomatoes, cucumber, chicory and fennel with balsamic vinegar dressing or Argan oil.

Mid-afternoon snack One or two apples.

Dinner Chicken with beans and fresh peas. Greek yoghurt with honey.

Drink Eight glasses of water and a small glass of red wine a day.

EXERCISE

Swim to slim Arlene says: "I was a complete beginner, but now I swim 20 lengths a day."

Walk it off "I try to walk somewhere every day. Even 10 minutes of brisk walking makes a difference."

Dance yourself fit "I still choreograph, sometimes for as much as five hours a day."

On Wikipedia it gives DOBs for Craig as 1967, Len 1950, Arlene 1952 but no DOB for Bruno.

{EDIT} Sorry didn't realise this had already been posted.

THe wikipedia entries (ironically) don't give Bruno's D.O.B but Len was born in 1950, Arlene in 1952 and Craig in 1967.

Only Arlene appears to be on IMDb - born in 1944.

I read that Arlene is 62, so therefore the 1944 date must be correct. And Len is 56, Craig 39.

Bruno - he's keeping it under wraps but my guess is 73 with the aid of a good plastic surgeon and botox.

I too read Arlene is over 60, it was a thing about how she has lost weight and looks good.

I'd imagine Len to be in his 60s too, bruno in his 50's and craig in his 40's

If Len Goodman is only 56 then I'm a Dutchman!

But if that's what a lifetime of dancing does to you then I shall take up golf!

Just looked in last year's SCD book, and in it Len is talking about being 60 when he first got the job as a judge on the show. So you can work it out for yourselves.

...which means Wiki could be wrong about some of the other judges' ages as well.

My guess:

Len 68
Bruno 50
Craig 47
Arlene 85

Len looks older than 56, I have to say.

Arlene has certainly been well preserved by something, although I'm not quite sure what!

So Len's only a couple of years older than Arlene then? Hmm - has anybody seen her out in the daylight?

As for Bruno, his first credit on IMDB is in 1981 ("dead young man" in an episode of Blake's 7), so if he was about 20 or so then he would be in his mid-late 40's by now. Craig is almost certainly the youngest.
