Anyone else starting to dislike Simon Cowell?!
Anyone else think Simon Cowell is no longer great? I`ve followed him through the years via Pop Idol, X-Factor and American Idol. I`ve always thought he was fantastic - a straight-talker and the virtual star of the shows he appeared in.
But this year, watching him through the auditions and on the X-Factor shows, I`m starting to become irritated with him. Can`t quite work out why? He`s always been rather smug and arrogant but that used to make me laugh. Now it`s starting to annoy me. I also don`t think he`s as straight-talking as he used to be. The way he praises some of his own acts - Ray in particular - I just find ludicrous. Plus, this pathetic baiting of Louis Walsh is beyond belief. Yes, I know it`s all for publicity but to me it just shows falsehood and I`m getting tired of the predictability of it all. Am I the only one out there who has lost faith in Simon?

He is really annoying me this year. He thinks the sun shines out of his acts a***s when they clearly need alot of work. He also constantly slags off Louis acts but when Louis says one thing to his acts he put both Louis and Sharon down saying their opinion doesn't matter.

Yeah, but he`s always done that sort of thing. I used to find it funny, but he really is annoying me this year. Maybe I`ve been watching him too long and he`s lost his novelty value. I just can`t work out why I`ve taken a dislike to him this time around.

Despite his fortune and public 'partner', to me he always seems bored and alone, as if there is something missing in his life despite the public face. Yes, I do think he has changed. On last night's Xtra Factor he was worse than ever, being bossy and rude, not happy with the set and saying that even the presenter's job was far from safe. He can always laugh off his comments, it's his show after all - he is their boss - but it doesn't really make for good television any more. I think Simon needs to change his public act.

That annoyed me as well. Last year I`d have laughed and shrugged it off as a joke. Now it just comes across as arrogance. |

Yes, he does appear bored by it all - consequently, whereas before there always seemed to be a wry sense of humour behind the nastiness, now it just seems like nastiness for the sake of it and that his only motivation is his ego's need to make sure his own acts do well (regardless of whether they deserve to).
He can try all the "twists" and "shocks" he likes, tinker with the format till the cows come home but, given that the show has always really been about him, if he's stale then so will the show be. Perhaps he should consider replacing himself?

Yes i agree i find him extremely irritating on the X Factor, not o much on American idol though. I think its because x factor its his show so he's rather smug. I think the whole show is awful this year

Yes, he doesn't seem quite so bad in America - perhaps it's because the standard of the contestants and the overall production values of the show are so much higher there. |

I have noticed it far more this year that this is really all Simon's show. He controls everything as witnessed last night when moaning about the band and the stage set design. |

lol, maybe he's just as disillusioned with the show as we are, and finds most the acts awful too, but has to keep it turning for a while longer and is p*ssed that something he's involved with is turning out so rubbish
of course, the blame rests on his own shoulders...and maybe he's just not getting enough

Well I have always liked Simon, but just lately he does seem to be getting a bit too bigheaded. I used to think that he was just a really confident bloke, but now it seems as though he is looking down on everyone, and looks so smug all the time.
I am actually starting to like Louis, I never used to, but I feel sorry for him in a way, because it seems as though its either Sharon or Simon getting at him all the time...When really he must know what he is doing because his acts seem to do better than simon's, in the long run. I am sure I will like Simon again in the future, but just lately he is horrible....... |

I thought I was the only one. I had always agreed with him but he is grating on me this series, largely for the reasons outlined above. He is also become very cliched.

To me Simon has started to beleive his own publicity. In this series so far he's smug and big headed, and a bully. Ben said on GMTV once that everyone who work's on X Factor is terrified of Simon. So if no one dare say no to him, you end up with a self centred jerk.

Simon has always been arrogant but had an element of charm which played well on these shows. When he started out on PI he was exactly what he was a judge with a music background (albeit iffy!!). But now he is no longer that & his involvement in the production etc. of this shows makes his ability to judge hugely suspect. I agree with everyone he is coming over as a 'bully' on this series & it is not a character I much like. I suspect that he realises that his midas touch is beginning to desert him & as we know winning to get more & more money is all that Simon cares about.

I think he's bored out his mind on X Factor. He doesn't get the banter with Kate like he does with Ryan Seacrest, the talent is pretty poor, the money isn't as good, he doesn't fancy Sharon like he does Paula, and he and Louis don't have the same "mutual respect" that he and Randy seem to have. He only seems to be staying to promote Angelis, and because he likes London.
