Apart from Mark and Karen's tune. I was monumentally surprised at just how BAD the Paso music was. I mean Bon Jovi??? for a Paso....come on!!! I know producers are trying to appeal to a younger crowd with the music choices but I am sure there are a million and one other pop music choices that would have been far more appropriate. My teeth were grating whilst watching the Paso Doble's

I agree, Mark and Karen's music was true Paso music, the rest was rubbish. The same happened last week with the tango music, it was just as bad!

I agree with someone else I read here a while back...Tango and Paso have to have the proper music...even if they all dance to the same song.

I would like to have seen Ray dance to the proper music like Mark (who got crap Tango music) as the music distracted me and it added to Mark's performance.

I wonder...who chooses the music? Is it the pro dancers or someone within the 'backstage crew'? A lot of the music tonight spoiled the 'tone' for the Paso.

I've been really disappointed by the music choices for the Tango and Paso and hope the women's choices are better...

The pros choose their music originally but it's not uncommon for many of their first choices to get rejected. It seems as though the beeb want to limit how many couples are allowed to use authentic tango/paso music.

Thank you, you beat me to it. I was fuming all through tonight's show (and last week's too). The music gives the word crap a new meaning. i was about to post about it. SCD is being ruined for me by the total lack of interpretation and choice of music. As we posted after last week, the tango music was badly chosen then this week's Paso was rubbish. Surely the choice of music must help the dancers to create the right mood. there are literally millions, nay zillions of suitable tunes, why don't they pick some.

May I just congratulate you on managing to do a great post and also with using the word 'nay'.

Based on that info the pro's should know what music will influence the judges in relation to the dance they are performing. I cannot understand why they would pick a 'non flattering' piece of music, tho i take on board the beebs 'limitations'

Agree with you all Mark and Karens music added so much to routine

Actually *shows off new found knowledge*, Mark's music was flamenco not paso.

Though to the uninitiated (like me ) it seemed far more paso than the rest of the paso choices...

Mission Impossible? No wonder Peter was so bad - I had to laugh when one judge said he's lost his rythym. It was now wonder, how on earth can you have rythym dancing to Mission Impossible?

Totally agree. I wonder how limited the BBC actually are...

I thought Matt and Lilia's Meatloaf song would be more suited but it wasn't, they still managed a great routine. It's gotten to the point now where pratically everyone can recognise unsuitable music. So who are they aiming the popular music at?
At least for the paso they could have managed to find 3 more suitable Paso songs. Something more Spanish sounding for a start.

Paso & Tango music needs to be authentic to create the right mood, for the dances. This weeks & last weeks choices were dreadful. It makes it painfull to watch & must be a struggle for the professionals to work on a decent routine to such rubbish music.

Really makes me cringe.

I agree with the sentiments on here. Each dance format like the Tango, Fox trot, Cha Cha surely are chosen for their different beats etc. Last week we had Ray and Camilla trying to dance a tango to Abba's Money, Money. No way has that got a tango beat and rhythm. It must make a lot more difficult for the amateurs to pick up. Even the judges were perplexed at the choice of music. The same with Mark and Karen trying to dance a Tango to Elenor Rigby.

Do the BBC think they have to pick these rubbish tunes to try to appeal to a wider audience. If so they are wrong as I believe most people would like the couples to dance to authentic Latin, waltz music etc.

I love the paso and tango but both weeks they've been spoilt by inappropriate music. I suspect it's some idiot at the BBC who thinks it's more popular to have more 'pop'music.

Some of the music choices have been absolutely terrible - to the point where they're actually off-putting. Numerous times this series the music has been so unsuitable that I'm left wondering just how they managed to come up with it.

Totally agree - it's painful to watch, and I'm sure the dancers would be able to get into the mood if they were dancing to more obvious music. I don't know how you can feel like a bullfighter dancing to Mission Impossible.

Go to agree some of the music for the last two weeks have been pretty ropey.

Who is responsible for the choice of music? I've always assumed it was the professional dancers. I notice Laurie Holloway is no longer with the show, and this seems to be reflected in the choice of music.

I actually really liked the paso music! It was weird but I generally liked it!!!!! PArt of the problem could be that a lot of true Paso music or Tango music has been used in previous series!

Apart from the marvelous Mark and Karen's....the music was terrible.

Mission Impossible...wrong, wrong, wrong.

What's spanish bullfight about that?

Last years Paso with Thriller for Colin and Erin was awful, and I'm sure the reason they received relatively poor scores. You would think that the pros would have learnt by now, stick to the traditional music, there's a reason why it's used for specific dances!
