Finally I thought they brought out a personal mini disk player that records directly off a pc. The software that comes with it allows u to convert Mp3, WMA, WAV and a few more formats, to the format it reads. Ok some of u might think Mini Disks are dead. But the sound and portablity can not be beaten. I've had MP3 players are the sound quility on them is shite, and CD players... don't even go there.

On this player I can get just over 40 tracks and keep good quillity. I still have my older Sony Mini Disk player which does the job through the digital output on my cd player but one of the major draw backs is the u have to wait in "real time" for the cd to be copied. With this new one it goes 32x the speed.

Now the money robbing barst****, have put a limit on how many times u can upload an mp3 file to the player. 3 times. THATS RIGHT 3 TIMES ONLY. Whats worse u can't upload the music from the mini disk to another computer at all.

There is sort of a walkaround with the mp3 problem. Just copy the orginal files and let the money thefing gits have there kicks with it. But I spent almost £200 on this product and their advert should be "Copy music files from the net at 32x the speed, BUT SORRY ONLY CAN DO THAT 3 TIMES". Where the hell is that in the add...

Sorry for that outburst!!

If somebody can find a crack for this shite software, called "OpenMG Jukebox version 2.2" please contact me as of late I had not got any luck.

I know that these boards don't like "crack" releated issuses on your site...but I think that something needs to be said as this is not funny

Alternatively, have you tried looking for alternative software? I know the iPods have various silly issues with PCs, and so other software developers have churned out software ten times better than the stuff Apple supply.

Kinda glad I missed NetMD (I get my new MD slightly too early), but that doesn't help you, does it?

I think the software is made for the NetMD because it does the job of converting the files to the format that the MD plays.

Have you tried <THIS> site?

It appears to be a minidisc devoted site... maybe you can find your answers here?

that does suck. i was considering one of those for just listen to music on the move, but even if there is a way round the 3 limit thing its just more hassle you dont need!

Also try minidisc.org That's a good site for minidisc stuff.

I knew the NetMD software converts MP3/CDs and whatever to ATRAC before squirting it out, so I suppose its just this hurdle to overcome.

The solution is simple to this....

Once you have uploaded the MP3 three times, go to it in the playlist, choose delete, say "delete from Open MG jukebox" BUT NOT THE Harddisk and import the MP3 again.

That's how I do.

----

As for the other thing of not downloaded from the disk to another PC, this is a "security" feature...the software does not as yet have a mechanism for downloading tracks, when you check a file out, it just deletes it from the disc and the software says, it's been deleted of 1 item, so you can upload it once again.

I'm not sure if the NetMD (or even the OpenMG) specs allow for downloading to a PC as well as uploading from it.

This is not necessarily Sony who are implementing this restriction. It is a standard agreed by the music industry. Although you may feel that the likes of U2, Eminem and Limp Bizkit can afford to lose income from music sales, they are only the tip of the iceberg. many people who work in the music industry, work hard for little return. Many more don't even get that far.

If people continue to steal music, which is created with a lot of hard work and late nights, then the music will dry up. You will have no music to play on your minidisc player.

If you ran a shop, would you allow me to walk in and help myself to your stock ? I suspect you wouldn't. You would probably install some anti-theft measures, and that is what the music industry has done with minidisc/MP3.

Can I ask you, since you refer to Sony as money robbing barst****, have you paid for the music you are trying to download ? I am just trying to understand your definition of 'robbing'.

Sony also make better software in the shape of Simple Burner and Sonic Stage -both are more advanced than OMG but require OMG present in the background (installed). They make the job generally less painful.

There are two ways of getting around the 3-copy limit however: wipe the backup and copy it again from the original OR install the netMD Sony plug-in for Real Player One -this does NOT have the three-upload limit providing an elegant way round the problem.
