Sky HD Box Connected to Media PC
I have a typical sky hd box and I have been trying to find a connection solution to a media pc running windows media centre. I have connected it via RF output but the picture really degrades (what you would expect) The tv card in the pc has only a typical aerial input. There are no other ways of connecting to it. The card is hybrid and will receive both digital and analogue signals. Quality on digital tv is excellent, if you connect an aerial to it. However, is there a way using the scart output or s-video that a digital signal can be fed into the card. In theory I thought it would be possible but have been unable to find a solution. Someone advised using a freeview box, has it has an ability to do this. I doubt this. Any suggestions would be useful, however I thing I am asking the impossible.........

Scart and s-video are analogue connections not digital and there are TV/capture cards which support those inputs although yours isn't one of them
![]() In practical terms you are asking the impossible, there are expensive solutions for component input and no HDMI/DVI input domestic cards atm and SKY+ HD does not currently support other output methods. So you can buy a cheap analogue card which will accept the s-video or even scart from the SKY+ HD or really got to town and look for a PC based solution for viewing SKY HD which judging from the SKY HD caps on the net is now possible. |

check the resolution of your RF input. Some default to 320 * 240 or may set themselves to NSTC.
Sky input here degrades but not by much. Quite a few sofwate programes also cope with Analogue input, namely Showshifter 2(many had it with as magazine cover freebie) and Nerovision Express. |
