I don't recall it ever happening in an XFactor final before, nor a Pop Idol final for that matter. Does Ashley get the dubious honour of being the first?

I'm sure there has been one before, if not so obvious, I'm thinking Tabby perhaps?

EDIT: I think it may have been American Idol.

Nikita fluffed a line too. The second one. She was meant to sing "like a flower bending in the breeze..." instead she repeated the first line's second part again and fluffed a bit...."Like a lazy ocean hugs the shore..hold me......mmph..sweeay me more. Oh and I think it was disgarcewful how rude Ashley's family were while Louis was making his decision.

And yet it was so glossed over.
When it happened (and it was a good three lines if not more), i said to my boyf 'oh he's going to get into deep sh*t for this, very unprofessional' but no, they acted as if nothing happened. He truly is the goldenballs of the competition.

You know what I meant . I think I've heard Kate refer to all of them as being "the finalists." It's like when the World Cup is referred to as the "World Cup Finals."

No it was Gareth Gates who was first to fluff a line when he missed the beggining of unchained melody and picked it up half way through the first verse. Then Andy Abraham had a similar incident on a Whitney song last year, missing the beggining and fluffing the first verse.

That's just unfair. The poor kid was trying to introduce the song (as they all did that night), and the music just started as he was stuck trying to dedicate the song to his mum.

Ashley may have been the first to forget the lines but it was still better than Nikkita completely forgetting the tune

Yeah, and I thought he'd been pretty poor up to that point as well, his timing seemed to be all over the shop for a start.

Oh yeah I remember now. It deffinatly wasn't his fault but Ashley had nobody to blame but himself.

Ahsley may have forgotten the words, but that was nothing compared to his flat out of tune singing!

I remember Tabby humming his way through half a verse of More than Words (funnily enough the best part of his performance ).

It wasn't the first mistake in lines. But it was the most obvious definately. He even started talking to the audience. I can't remember what he sayed something like 'Oh, what was it?' and then just went 'nananananana' to fill in the line... - Very unprofessional!

It was the most honest performance I've ever seen. Ashley was so honest he even stopped half way through to delcare that it was "Shit"

I'm sure he also muttered a censored word. I deffinatly saw the word leave his lips. Someone should remind him it's a family show!!!

Hey, come on, don't forget he had to pretend to play that guitar, too.

I know its not quite the X factor, but Pete Cox (Go West) fluffed his lines in the semi finals of Reborn in the USA.... It cost him a place in the final IMO.

He asked the audience to help him out after "la ling" half a verse.... He was getting away with it, untill he asked.

I was gonna post this as well Because of Pete forgetting his words Michelle Gayle ended up in the final and she was hopeless

It would have been a much better final (I was there btw ) between Tony Hadley and Pete - still think Tone would have won though

I posted this in another thread

Steve fluffed intro and went onto win XFactor

Andy fluffed intro in Xfactor 2..came 2nd

Following this theory...

XFactor 3
Ash fluffs line...comes 3rd

Actually I could see him coming third. I don't think he can win, but I could imagine him coming in just behind Leona and Ben.
