Compare and Contrast Peter and Louisa
I know it was only based on one show and what is required of the man and woman are different BUT
It certainly seems Peter is much happier dancing close to his partner and judging by Louisa's attempt last night she seems to be the reverse Interesting to see if this pattern continues. I think this is more of a condfidence thing than a liking for Latin or ballroom thing |

I think that Louisa found the foxtrot a bit 'old fashioned'... I think she prefers the higher energy dances, but the foxtrot is abit harder for her to grasp the basics of... Its a very complicated dance for a 17 year old to get into their head in one week...

Yes, I don't think her age has anything to do with it and shouldn't really be a factor. Truth is she just wasn't all that good at the foxtrot.

I know it ain't I didn't mean the technical bit... To preform a dance usually you have to have a story in your head... I always found it difficult when Brendan goes on about the story to have it stick in my mind and then dance the foxtrot... I'm just saying that when your 17 the paso and the tango's storys stick more then the foxtrots and to a point the waltz... You don't need one in something like a quickstep because you just have to dance it but the foxtrot has always been one of the dances I never could get into and Brendan blames it on my imagination... I just thought that could be a reason that Louisa struggled...

She used the age excuse herself. Said that she was only 17 and the foxtrot was created in the 1930s. That's like school kids saying why should they learn history because it all happened before they were born. I'd have more respect for her if she had a little respect for the history of the dances. Wonder if sh'e heard of Fred Astaire?

Age is no excuse. Apart from possibly Arlene (!) who out of any of the dancers were born during the development of the classic ballroom styles?
It's not about age - you've either got the rhythm of it or you haven't and if you haven't, you have to learn. |
