It's in a post on Outpost Gallifrey. He gets it from the overnights.

I think they could have lost viewers due to the later time slot. They should put it back to 9pm IMHO. Still impressive figures though.

Yeah I assumed that 9pm was going to be its slot.
10 makes no sense. Not like they have anything else on

I'd prefer 9 as well. 10pm starts risk me nodding off (esp yesterday when I was still on BST and woke up about half 4 by mistake).

Had it not been for the NTAs on WEdnesday I was tempted to leave it until then.

Surely there's far less competition at 10pm than at 9pm? It did well at 9pm last week but then again, BBC1 made very little effort against the "Prime Suspect" finale.

Probably less competition, but not necessarily a better slot.
I mean its Sunday night. Theres not THAT much else on.

A bit larger drop than I was hoping it would get. It was always going to drop below 2 M though I thought it might have got about 1.7 or 1.8.

The later slot probably has something to do with this also the fact that it's on BBC2. A lot of people may not have realised it would be on BBC2 the first week (some people wrote into Points of View about this), now they know they may want to watch it on there.

It was up against that Royle family thingy, this week - that got an 18% share.

No it wasn't; The Royle Family was on BBC1 from 9.00pm-10.00pm, and Torchwood was on BBC3 from 10.00pm-10.50pm.

The figures for Ghost Machine are very encouraging. Torchwood was never going to get 2m+ every week. Anything more than 800,000 viewers will be okay I think, and a Series 2 commission will be in the bag.

Last week the figures stayed around the same for both 9pm and 9:50pm episodes. Its more likely that about a third of viewers last week didn't like it and chose not to return this week. 1.6m is still good though - anything above 1m will be considered successful for digital tv.

But there was also a "Royle Family thingy" at 10.15 on BBC1 which got good ratings.

I should imagine (and certainly hope) that the BBC2 ratings will have a big say in any renewal.

There was a We Love The Royle Family documentary thing on at 10.15, that's what I was talking about.

Edit: Beaten to it

If I'm a typical viewer (which I am, of course!), then what I did may have been common.

I had intended to watch ep1 and tape ep2 but I enjoyed ep1 enough to carry on watching ep2 'live'.

This week, I taped it.

Dinnae be daft.

If that were the case it would have been reflected in the ratings for the various screenings. It was not.

How about you consider the audience share at 10% was only 2% lower than last week.

Later time slot (who watchers TV at 10pm on a sunday), less hype. The biggest MC programme of the week. Do I need to go on?

Well, OK- Torchwood gets around 4 screenings per week and just like Doctor Who, Spooks, Eastenders etc. a lot of people will choose to watch the screening thats best for them and their viewing habits.

2.8 million. The other BBC 3 Screenings got around 500,000. Which is itself a pretty decent audience.

No commission as yet for a second series of Torchwood. Episode 12 (last one) completes filming at the end of this week.

Next week the BBC Three "Torchwood" might struggle - against a new "Touch of Frost" on ITV, plus "Fellowship of the Ring" on C4 and even Five has a film premiere - "Gothika".

For most of the country BBC One is showing "Panorama" against both the BBC Three and BBC Two (Wednesday) showings. (Except for $Ky Digital-less viewers in Scotland who have a Hibs v Hearts match on instead of "Panorama" on the Wednesday). However ITV1 is boxing clever with a premiere of X2 from 9pm!
