If you've got a CD writer drive in your PC you can write a Video CD (VCD), which most DVD players will play. The quality won't be as good as DVD but it's pretty close to VHS. You'll need some software that can create a VCD from your clips, but there's plenty to choose from - check out VCD Help for more information.
If you want to create an actual DVD then you're looking at £200 to £300 for a DVD writer drive, but it should come with all the software you'll need. One problem is there's more than one kind of recordable DVD and not every DVD player can handle every type, and the players can be fussy about what brand of blank DVD you've used. There's information about recordable DVD on the above site too, but as a beginner I'd start out with a nice cheap simple CD writer for your downloaded clips. Murray |
