The point is that a lot of people are already getting worked up over perceived favouritism and the Beeb putting out comments as badly worded as that are bound to add fuel to the fire.... Emma & Darren fans need to stop getting so defensive with the other FMs and start bombarding the BBC about the negative effect it's having on their popularity if they feel so strongly about them.

Thank you allyfree.
Yet I fail to see how one can equate stating the truth in a fan forum, with being a 'fiercely protective bunch'.
However, without doubt, I acknowledge that Emma needs to improve in certain aspects, yet won't allow others to force their views on me as though their views are the absolute truth. And I will certainly not sit back and allow SCD fans to criticise Emma for being the subject of ONE of the judge's bias. This is certainly not her fault. The recent Sunday Mirror article regarding Arlene's opinion as to Emma has not been mentioned on here enough - her favourite? I don't think so.
I fear that Emma is suffering some anti-Spice vibes as well, something which I believe Emma is trying to shake off by proving that there is more to her than the odd girl power scream.
Sorry Allyfree, but with you, the word bitter comes to mind. Worried Emma may actually do better than the contestants that you support?

Didn't you read the post i made immediately above this one, then ?

Everybody is protective of their own favourites, allyfree, you as much as anyone else obviously. All the judges think Emma has dance potential and is one of the best of the bunch, but only one openly makes statements which seem biased, and I do believe Craig marks things as he sees them. I find myself in agreement with buntyj's comments.

Yes, but problems are best dealt with at the base, and I think that SCD fans need to first realise that Emma has no say in how the judges mark her, so fans should act like moral human beings and not take it out on her.

And to clear things up Allyfree, I would welcome you to post in the Emma & Darren appreciation thread again, but as well as saying where they went wrong, with justifications, please note that it is also an appreciation thread, so generally posters will be in favour of them. Objective criticism is essential in order to improve.

Exactly the point I made in one of my posts there.

If you look back, you'll see that any of the posts I made on that thread (198, 245 & 248) were to put back some objectivity (with the exception of the last one).

I withdrew because I felt that no-one was interested in this approach and would rather be antagonistic - my opinion hasn't changed

The comment I am referring to was the comment that Carole WAS better than Emma, or something like that. Forgive me, I cannot remember who stated that, and nor am I going to go and have a look, but I just feel that making a comment like that, without justification, in an Emma & Darren appreciation thread was quite frankly rude. It reverts back to my argument that that statement is not a fact, and therefore cannot be proven to be correct, or incorrect for that matter, and therefore no one has the right to make such an absolute assertion.

I am glad that we can agree on the need for objective criticism, because, although Emma is one of my favourites, I do not hide behind a dark screen, I know there is a lot of room for improvement.

It was just a shame that we ended up in bad terms, certainly unintended on my behalf.

Len Goodman, actually and he knows a thing or two !

I take my leave of yet another Emma thread ...... you really need to reflect on the quality of some of these posts and calm down - it should be light entertainment.

The phrase "star couple" was ill advised, but if this is the way the forum reacts when a request for questions is made, then we aren't going to get asked again! Lets hope some people have e-mailed some proper questions in, then we might get invited to submit more for other couples later and everyone's "star couple" will come around in the end.

The ad for questions was on the bbc site too, but I agree I wouldn't blame the OP for not coming back.....

I do hope ITT get enough sensible questions to ask Emma/Darren about her nerves; performance on the night; Brendans comments and favouritism. As well as some more fun questions.

As Arlene said - dance is about passion. But its also about self-discipline and elegance. Oh, and also very pink and fluffy

No, please not about her nerves, she seemed to have forgotten about them last Sat night.

Absolutely. It's not Emma who keeps introducing the topic of her nerves, and I am getting really tired of people introducing the topic again and again, she then has to reply and then people complain she keeps on about her nerves. Please ask her something different.

Well, I don't know about anyone else but I didn't notice one question of ours asked.

Perhaps our questions were too near the knuckle for them.

Sorry sugartingles, however I did tape it so when I get a minute I'll check again and see if I missed anything.

Aww, thanks love. I've been pestering people here all day like a real sad case and I still don't know what happened on Monday, and now I've missed tonight's show as well. I really need to get another job. Sniff.

I think my two questions were, a) how did Emma rate her own performance, and, b) did she feel her position (and that of others) on the show was vulnerable because of the favouritism of judges. Didn't expect to get them answered, but was curious.

As much as anything, I think Emma might have appreciated the chance to talk about how she and the other celebs respond to some of the inconsistent marking/comments. Was there any mention of that? I'm surprised if none of our questions gets taken up. Why ask us in the first place? Are we getting too big for our dancing boots?

Ho-hum, I shall bob my head round the door here again tomorrow, Dorothy; thanks for keeping me up to speed!

xx

It wasn't just the forum that was asked: the request was up on the main bbc strictly site.

Surely someone on this site sent them a pertinent question, though? We are after all a collective of very thoughtful obsessives, even if we are slightly scary....

Apologies, I missed the show, so I don't even know what questions they were asked. I'd ask someone to fill me in but I'm in danger of turning into a bore....zzzzzzz.
