Or even people who haven't, but have had friends going, or whatever..

Could you please help me?

I've got tickets for this Saturday, and just wanted to triple check some things, especially queuing.

What time do people start arriving from, and where does the queue start? Having never been to the BBC before, I'd guess the main entrance, but..? (I'm clueless!)

I was also wondering about seating - where's best, in terms of view, meeting the dancers/celebrities etc?

Are there any issues (other than the more-tickets-than-actual-seats one) that I should know about? Things I should avoid or whatever?

If any of you could give me any information, I'd be very, very grateful!

Thankyou!

We were at the show 3 weeks ago but luckily were given tickets with "Production" stamped across them when we arrived. We along with family and friends of the Celeb's were assured of a seat.

Last year we had to queue and got in before "Reserve" stickers were put on our tickets so we were assured a seat.

So the earlier you get there the more chance you'll have (say noon, at least!).

You will probably be seated on the upper tier but that doesn't matter for mixing with everyone on the dance floor after the two shows.

Remember to take your camera as security don't seem to mind but they do give you a thorough check (including the removal of trouser belts before walking through the scanner!!). Obviously the camera is for use after the shows and many celeb's are pleased to pose with you.

You get a free drink and a packet of crisps in the interval but you can buy beer/ wines and food etc in the audience cafe.

Both times we were seated opposite the judges and about 4 rows back (just under the arbour). Great seats as the celeb friends sit there and you can see the judges clearly.

If you want to stay on the dance floor as long as possible after the results show then make sure you have no belongings left in the cloakroom as it closes 10 minutes after the show.

Finally, have a great time. We did.

Thanks for that!
Does someone show you to a specific seat, or do you choose?
And is the queue just outside the front entrance of the BBC?
(Sorry, I'm just really excited and want it to go well..!)

You will be told where to sit.

Yes, you queue outside the main entrace to the BBC. It's clearly marked Audience Reception.

Len teaches us (when he's not jetting off to the USA every week!).

Someone who's been to a TV show recording (not SCD) said that they way they decide who sits where is to mix the audience up. For example, they don't want all women in the front row, or all men, or all young or all old people. So they try to mix it up, and put people in groups with a mix of age, sex, maybe race and they sit near each other. But I don't know what happens with SCD.

If anyone has been to the show PLEASE do a posting so we can hear all about it. I live in Cologne Germany so I will never be able to get to see a live show!! I have no idea how you would go about trying to buy a ticket!!Would love to hear the details.

Not sure if they go to that length but they do try to seat the audience celeb's and families carefully. They even pin photo's, names and brief description of the person on the backs of the chairs.

One thing I notice on TV is that there are always "Old people" sitting behind the judges and yet they are in the minority compared with the rest of the audience. There are more women in the audience too!

I think next year because of the show's popularity with celeb's, Joe Public will not be offered any tickets.

We were with a group of 10 from Len's school so when you multiply that with all of the others that are involved with the show then there can't be much room left!

It's not usually as methodical as this, unless the audience is featured very heavily (for example at Making Your Mind Up, they wanted a certain 'type' sitting in shot).

Most shows will have seats set aside for production guests. At SCD, this is most of the ground floor. On other shows, it's several rows back (so guests can see over the cameras).

Generally, the other seats are just filled in without gaps by the public.

seems a bit unfair that Len can get a group of 10 in and Anton hasn't got any of us in!!!

I went a couple of weeks ago and wrote a detailed report:
http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/s...&page=11&pp=25

The BBC posted on their website sometime in September to say that their phoneline (number given) would be opened a couple of weeks later for SCD ticket requests. A lot of people here tried to get through that day (phoneline opened at 8.00 a.m.) for hours, some got through some didn't. I fortunately did! They then took my name, number of tickets required, my preferred date and my address. I received the tickets in the post a week before the actual show.

I heard that they received 150,000 calls that day requesting tickets. Someone may correct me on the number.

Hope you find this useful!

Sit by door B when you get into the foyer! We got there super early and were like 6th in the que, but we were being a little paranoid!

I don't blame you!
I'm so sorry to keep going on, but I'm super excited (and just a LOT paranoid, too!)

So, when I get there, what do I do?
If the queue's outside, I'll just join the back of that. But if by some miracle I'm there before a queue has formed..? Do I wait by the entrance doors, or are there gates to the whole building/vicinity that I wait by? (Having never been anywhere near the place before, I don't know the setup.. =\ ) And once I'm admitted onsite, where do I go then? Are we sent to wait in the Canteen, or is there somewhere else I should actually wait, in order to get the best seats possible? (Like the Door B in the foyer..) Oh, unless your seats are determined by your ticket number..?

Once again, I am REALLY TRUELY sorry for bugging you like this! I'm not usually this pedantic about ANYTHING, but I'm panicing, because I've been counting down since the ticket-phone-in-day and (since I'm so excited) I'm also so scared something will go wrong!

Thankyou so much for everyone's help so far, especially that lovely report, Frodora.

The entrance is CLEARLY MARKED Audience Reception (or something to that effect). You really cannot miss it.

Apart from finding where to queue up, and it is obvious (hundreds of people a week have been managing to do it for years), you are directed where to go at every stage.

All you have to do is decide what time to get there. And no-one can answer that for you.

There are no 'best seats' in the studio. The best seats go to production guests, the public just fill in the rest. Ticket number have no relation to seats.

The audience ushers will direct you to a seat. You sit where they tell you. Don't ask if you can sit somewhere else becuase a) they won't let you, b) the seat you want to sit in is probably reserved for a production guest and c) you should be thankful that you have the honour of even getting as far as the studio. There will be people on standby who are turned away, and hundreds more who couldn't even get a ticket.

Oh ok, I didn't know that. Does that mean people who come with friends and families may not get to sit next to each other if they are "filling in gaps"?

Thankyou for clearing that up.
I'm glad to hear that the BBC are so organised, I just wanted to "make sure" as I have been to another large scale event in the past (a Harry Potter premiere) where the organiser's lack of organisation had made it difficult, to say the least.
I knew you couldn't pick specific eats as the majority went to production staff & guests. I was talking about the rest of the seats that are allocated to general audience members, as those who enter the studio itself later will naturally have seats nearer the back.
I am very thankful that I have managed to get tickets, which is why I am asking the valuable advice of people who have been before so as to make the most of such a valuable opportunity.
I'm sorry if my post aggrivated you - i'm the first to admit that my excitement has made me irrationally pinickity.

Have a great time Lydiaa, I for one don't blame you for being paranoid about double-checking every detail. Hope everything goes well, and don't forget to give us all a full report.
