Can anyone confirm this though by comparing two?

What one person deems loud could be quiet to another.

As posted in another thread:

Main board has been revised, and is now Rev 1.1.

Fan does now stop in standby.

I'm definitely going to check my hummy internals now. I have a new machine (in the bedroom) so if I have rev 1.1 presumably my fan is stopping in standby. Will check.

Getting back to this, I know we established the humming noise and quietness of fan in my case as well as the hard drive spinning down when in standby, I took another check at the fan yesterday.

When the unit is on, I can feel the cool air gently blowing out from the fan. In standby I can't feel anything, and it's quiet. This would seem to indicate the fan does go off in standby, but based on what Barry has said I'm not sure.

I'm not going to take the top off to check, but isn't another way to check the hardware version through Menu/System/Status? If so, mine reads REV 1.0.

Don't know if it helps you TonyW but I took top of mine yesterday (Rev 1.1) the fan is OFF when in Standby.

What does it say when you go to Menu/System/Status?

This has been mentioned elsewhere, but please don't have power on with the top off unless you know what you are doing. There can be mains voltages exposed in this sort of equipment.

I don't want to look or poke inside for fear of doing something wrong so am leaving well alone.

Looks like the information/advice I received from Humax was correct after all
