I have it on good authority that one of the forthcoming sambas will be danced to Ring My Bell by Maria and the Menstrual Cyclists. Has anyone come across this piece before?

Dancin' Doc.

If it is what I think it is, it might be a seventies disco type tune in the vein of Car Wash, I Will Survive and Disco Inferno.

Seventies tunes seem to have been used quite a bit in Strictly's US counterpart Dancing with the Stars as well.

I can't remember which ones now but I thought some of Rammstein's songs would be good for the paso or the Tango... And Ohne Dich for the rumba... But that's just my strangness...

You could be right Mr Estilolibre, I understand that before having her own backing group, The Menstrual Cyclists, Maria was lead singer with Hot Flushes when they recorded The Period Polka. Perhaps we will hear that one day on S.C.D.

That's in 4/4 isn't it?

I agree it'd be a lovely dance tune, but I hate it when they crowbar a piece into waltz time when it really doesn't go.

Oooh I like the thought of that!

AK: wrong time signature. They could maybe crowbar it but I'm not convinced - unless I'm remembering it wrong it's definitely in 4/4, at the very least certainly not in waltz time or in compound time.

Hips Don't Lie by Shakira or Wherever Whenever would make a funky samba. Billy Joel rocks!

I always liked the song from License to Kill - "If you asked me to" by Patti Labelle (celine dion did a cover but prefer the original). Always wanted to do that for my rumba medal!

I loved it when Karen did the rumba to "I hate you then I love you" with her partner when they came to do a showcase back in 1998 (?) in melbourne. Would be great if she recreated that with Mark!

Billy Joel! perfect for a jive, fun and lively enough. Oh hips don't lie that's great! If Mark or Ray were dancing to that Arlene would combust :P pile of ash and paddles would be left...

Is that the one that goes: "He Had It Coming?" That was used by Lilia when she danced with Aled Jones.

I think you might have some time signatures mixed up a bit there Janemarie!

Three Times a Lady is in Waltz timing already and Sway is better known as a Cha Cha ans as much as I love Queen, I don't hear a Paso in Innuendo. Maybe I need to go have a quick listen Crazy Little Thing as a Quickstep is borderline for me.

Yep i think it is. Qujite sure of it, someone may want to correct me if I'm wrong though.

For the Samba, Eso Beso that song seriously rocks!(covered by Emma Bunton, not sure who orginally done it though) Or Crickets Sing for AnnaMaria (Again Emma covered it but I don't know the original artist)
For the Foxtro- Downtown by Petula Clark (or Emma Bunton because I love that version)

OK here's mine:

Cha Cha: Can't decide. It's either 'In These Shoes' by Kirsty MacColl or 'I Like it Like That' by Pete Rodriguez

Rumba: How Deep is Your Love (not by Take That though!)

Paso:For me it has to be a classic piece (non of your silly Mission Impossibles!). Espana Cani, Malaguena or El Pico, to get the proper rhythmn and feel.

Jive: I Love to Boogie by Marc Bolan

Waltz: Open Arms by Journey

Tango: Tango de la Roxanne (Moulin Rouge)

Foxtrot: Nice and Easy (Frank Sinatra)

Quickstep: Sing Sing Sing

Vienese Waltz: Again something classic in a Strauss Waltz thank you very much!

I was listening to the radio yesterday and this song came on

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nxD3y6AJrYw

The words more than the music `Do you love me now that I can dance`.
Maybe for the jive?

I like Thess`s suggestion by Marc Bolan too.

Trouble is I know nothing about 4/4 beats

Without a doubt I would chose "Whenever you Call" for a rumba! I think that would make the most beautiful rumba in all the world!

Good choices, I was going to say that for the tango! I like the idea of Cell Block Tango as well. For the paso I like whatever it is they use at the end of Strictly Ballroom, think it's something traditional. Am I right in thinking that it has been used in one of the earlier series?

Whenever I hear Please Stay by Kylie I think it would be good for one of the latin dances, but I don't know which one, maybe rumba?

Latin

Anything by Santana

I really want them to use I Said Never Again by Rachel Stevens for a jive. Give a pro woman a chance to practise her acting skills!

And Candyman by Christina Aguilera (I know it's an album track, but it's SO perfect for jive!)

This is probably thinking too far ahead but I wish someone would dance to "Last Dance" by Donna summer for their freestyle or the cover version of "Ths time I know it's for real" by Young Divas.
